Who lives in Boston?

I am going to spend a day or two there and I know some of you are from there. In fact, I am leaving on St. Patrick's Day. So, who are you Bostonions? I could use a tip or two about the city, about where I am staying (already decided) and such. (This isn't quite "TORn Moot" material since A) its not official or for a group B) Most of you don't go there, for whatever reason.)

Hopefully they'll see this and reply. Have a great trip! Boston's one of my favorite cities.

Micro-moot! You're going to be there at least Friday and Saturday, then? We ought to be able to work something out. I'm not sure what sort of tips you're in the market for, but: don't wear that crown. We have a short way with Kings around here.

You don't say how you're getting there - hopefully, it's not by car! Use the T (the subway) for distances; all the info you need is on the Web (www.mbta.com). Quincy Market is a must! Boston Common is pleasant. If you've got a day, the Science Museum is a treat. Or just walk around - it's a small city! And be sure to hook up with greendragon and L. Ron. Warning: he is, indeed, like that in real life!

Driving in Boston Isn't THAT Bad

Yes, it is worse than driving in Pittsburgh. Yes, you will need a map. Yes, the traffic is worse than you'd imagine. But it's certainly not that hard to drive in if you're a reasonably competent driver. If you really like a huge selection of beer/cider and an incredible array of bar foods, I highly recommend Sunset Grille in Allston. It's only two blocks from the Green Line (line B I seem to remember). http://www.allstonsfinest.com/allstonsfinest/sunsetgrillandtap/sunsetgrill&tap.swf Quincy Market is also very good; If you love "old-fashion food," Durgin Park is terrific and it's right in Quincy Market. If you're more of a fish fanatic, try Legal Seafoods (multiple locations), Atlantic Fisheries (Boylston St., near the Hynes Convention Center).

I have driven a few times in NYC and I have a hard time imagining Boston being worse than that. Is it?! Beyond that I have driven in Athens and I know Boston cannot be worse than that where lanes, traffic lights and road signs are mere suggestions. Maybe worse still was the mountain roads in Greece that were perhaps 1.5 lanes wide with lots of blind curves and big Mercedes delivery trucks with drivers seemingly blind to any other vehicles on the road. I just imagined they had delicious feta cheese inside that needed to get through and tried not to get too mad. I hear China's metropolitan cities have Athens beat in 'crazy driving' hands down.

are in Argentina, Spain and Portugal, or so I've heard, but that's just records. I'm sure in China they keep no records. I only have experience with Argentina and Hong Kong and HK was a snap compared to Buenos Aires. Their small street crossings are a dead giveaway, no stop sign anywhere, just signs that say 'cruce peligroso' and 'cruce muy peligroso' (dangerous crossing and very dangerous crossing). And lanes, that's for wusses, not even remotely suggested. In any case, have a fab trip, Sandy. Well, what nick of your nick did you expect.

Traffic is awful--much worse than NYC, where I grew up. Use the subway--the "T". Parking is worse than traffic, and very expensive where legal. Suggested highlights depend on your interests. If you want, send me a message and I'll be glad to offer any advice. Boston is a great city--I really like it. Just not the traffic! -Tail-Kinker Kim Mc
