Welcome to a sunny Fiesta Friday! Can't Post

Greetings. everyone!

This Friday Fiesta is brought to you by a beautiful, sunny day with mild temperatures - in other words, a perfect summer day! Hopefully, the weather is nice in your part of the world, and will stay nice and civilized for the weekend. Whatever the weather has in store, let us know how your week went and what plans you might have brewing.

The buffet is piled high with fresh seafood offerings (I had a craving Angelic), and the blenders are fired up and ready to blend up your favorite icy libations! Taking orders now!

*puts quarters on juke box* Sunshine on my Shoulders by John Denver starts to play.

Have a fabulous weekend!! CoolHeartLaugh

Hmm...fish tacos? [In reply to] Can't Post

I'll take a couple, loaded with coleslaw, thank you! Could I have a tall iced mocha to go with them, please?

We've returned from our train trip out to Chicago! It was wonderful just to hang out with our daughters for a few days. And the hotel was lovely - a short ivy-covered vintage brick building, close to the "L" and busses. But trying to sleep in Coach class on a train is the pits! Next time, we'll get a sleeper.

It's been in the 80F/27C temps here, but we had a nice rain yesterday, and more predicted for tomorrow. The weeds are growing well Laugh, but my lime hydrangea is finally blooming! How are your plants doing, Altaira?

Welcome home! [In reply to] Can't Post

So glad to hear the trip was a success (except for a slight lack of sleep each way). How long is the ride that kept you from getting enough sleep?

Our weeds and other plants are going gangbusters thanks to all the spring rain we had. My back has been 'iffy' so to keep the garden weeds at bay until I feel more confident bending all the way down to the ground, I 've been cutting the tops off wherever I see buds. The few weeds in the grass will have to wait, but a weekly mowing keeps them manageable.

I googled 'lime hydrangea' - looks gorgeous! Is yours a bush or a tree?
Happy weekend! Smile

Puppy update [In reply to] Can't Post

Tama is growing like mad. His brain isn't developing quite as fast as his body of course, but he tries super hard to be a very good boy.

It has been so wet here. Thankfully we have a few fine and frosty days forecast. My 'lawn' might start to dry out a bit.

Happy weekend everyone!

Score on a lovely sunny day, Altaira! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm so happy that you're enjoying some awesome weather! :D

It's about 95 degrees f in Michigan today, but it's supposed to cool down to the 80s over the weekend. A chocolate milkshake would do a lot to remedy that!!

Otherwise all is well and I'm looking forward to a more productive weekend/week playing outside as I dodge the mosquitoes ;)

Have a wonderful time, m'dear... and thanks for taking such great care of us!

August next week, really? [In reply to] Can't Post

This month flew by! Glad you're having some amazing weather, Altaira! It's in the low/mid-90s here, but it looks like we'll drop below 90 for a couple of days soon.

We'll be outdoors tomorrow afternoon at a carnival/fair, then possibly some antiquing afterwards (probably just window shopping for me). I'm going to take a couple of days off in the next week or so, as my boss's boss's boss (lol) suggested that I do that asap to take a break from things. Refreshing when someone actually tells you to take a bit of time off!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Oof! [In reply to] Can't Post

That is indeed a long time in coach. I've only done the sleeper car overnight. Was the train relatively on time, or were you dealing with the dreaded Amtrak delays? Glad you had a great trip, though!

OMG! He's SO BEAUTIFUL! Ditsy blondes are always fun to have around ;) I love it when they try so hard. He'll grow into himself so fast. Does he act like a sponge with the rain? He looks a little like a sponge ;) I'll bet he's so fun to hang out with!

Thank you for this! I've been wondering how he's doing. This is so fun!

There's no place like home :D [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm so glad you had this time with your kiddos. But definitely sleeping in coach is NOT COOL! Like trying to sleep on a plane. There's no way to get comfy.

How nice of the weeds to be there to welcome you home :D

Enjoy your weekend!

It's very hard to find a workplace that not only notices when times are challenging, but to have them "care" is quite remarkable!

Enjoy your weekend of walking and window shopping ;)

Gosh, he's growing so fast!

Just last night I was wondering how you and Tama were getting on, so it's lovely to see an update.

So wet. So muddy. So much. We keep wondering how it can be so soggy when we're on a hill! It's a lot worse down on the flats.

My life has been totally lacking in seafood... [In reply to] Can't Post

apart from prawns. I was never given the stuff as a child and didn't fancy trying it later. Looking at cockles, mussels, oysters etc just squicks me out - my brain just goes, 'Brother to the Snail and Slug. Ugh.' Still, I've lasted this long without it, I daresay I'll survive! A nice virtual prawn cocktail always goes down well though. (Very 70s!) Earlier this week I joined daughter and family for my older grandson's birthday trip (13 - where does the time go?) to an aquatic assault course, which he and his friends enjoyed. Son-in-law was in there with them, but my daughter stayed ashore with me and took the photos. yesterday my knitting group had a buffet lunch to celebrate the group's ninth birthday, so it's been a birthday sort of a week! Visited a Wildlife Art exhibition (superb standard, but too many big cats!) in a garden centre with a friend and had tea and cake afterwards. I've eaten too much cake this week... the memory of it will have to sustain me through the next! Have a good weekend, everyone - cheers!

It's a bush [In reply to] Can't Post

and I hope it spreads out nicely as it grows!

The trip was 24 hours there (including a 2-hour layover) and 26 hours back (with a 3+ hour layover). I saw some "seasoned travellers" just pull out light blankets and settle in, but I can't get comfortable enough to sleep in a seat that's jiggling around. Unsure

It's too bad there's no way to mow among the plants! Laugh Have a great weekend!

Yes! [In reply to] Can't Post

When someone higher-up than your higher-up wants to make sure you get some "mental health break" time, he/she realizes there's stress going on. I wonder if they'll have a "chat" with the boss...

Put on plenty of sunscreen, hydrate well, and have fun at the fair! Do you like to go on the rides?

He said he made a mistake introducing us seven kids to whitebait (a juvenile form of fish - about five or six of them side-by-side would be about the width of your pinky finger, and they're expensive) and he didn't repeat it with oysters or lobster. I was an adult before I got to try oysters (eurgh) and lobster (OMG yum) and I appreciate his focus on protecting his wallet. Laugh

Cooling off sounds good! [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes, unfortunately leaving our few garden weeds a little longer encourages the mosquitos, but I strategically try to only go out mid-day when they're least active. Cutting them back to 6" or so is a quick job as long as I don't get distracted with other things (pretty much guaranteed).

Happy, fun weekend! Smile

Oh, excellent! [In reply to] Can't Post

You have the best excuse ever to take some time off - following the boss's orders. Have you decided what you'll do? Make a long weekend out of it?

You made me remember a time many years ago when I was also under a lot of stress at work. My boss took out the company credit card, handed it to me, and told me to go to Vail for the weekend. Who was I to argue? Angelic

Whatever you end up doing - Enjoy!!
