Welcome to Fiesta Friday!
|
Can't Post
|
|
After having the Fiesta post disappear into thin air last week, I'm going to be extra paranoid about it this week. .... *refresh* yep, still here .... *refresh* yep, still here I spent some of this week getting a proposal together for my new small client. It's always a little scary estimating how many hours/dollars a new project starting from scratch will take, so I try to err on the side of overestimating because it's always better to come in *under* budget. Then again, I don't want to give them sticker shock either by coming in too high. Oh well, this isn't my first rodeo, so I'm sure everything will be fine. What have you been up to and what plans do you have for the weekend? This is a 3-day weekend here in the U.S. - our Labor Day holiday. So, I'll be checking whether some things I've had on my to-buy list are on sale. Do any of you own a smart-watch? I'm thinking of buying one and have been waiting for this weekend! the barb-y is fired up, the blenders are whirring, and there's a fun variety of floaty toys in the pool, so do tell all, and let's get this party started!! *puts quarters on juke box* party music, please!!
.... *refresh* yep, still here (whew!)

! That was so freaky last week, wasn't it! And you have been busy. Setting up a fresh account must be exciting, but the comptroller knows you, so you can be assured they have complete confidence in you, no matter what price you put on your services! Could I have a mocha smoothie, please, Altaira? This weekend is the annual Labor Day Tag Sale for our town's Historical Society! I've been cleaning out and took some good-condition items to them this morning during their set-up. Tomorrow I shall be there to help sell! They hold it at one of our historic homes, there's wide grounds around the 1660 farmer's saltbox-style house, so we let individual vendors set up tables on the lawn to "hawk their wares" while we work out of a barn. We'll get some corn-on-the-cob from our local farmer's stand for Monday, to go with kielbasa in hot dog buns - we've found that tastier than regular hot dogs! Then we'll pack for a long weekend on Cape Cod. Anyone with Nickerson heritage out there? It's their annual "Family Reunion" next weekend, with walking tours, dinners and speakers, and a picnic! Have a fun weekend, Altaira, and here's some party music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIg6odS-fA0

Sounds like a fun weekend - this one and the next one! After getting rid of things, do you ever come back with something? I probably would, lol. I love kielbasa. We used to have it often when I was a kid. Cap Cod is bound to be beautiful this time of year. *dances to Kool and the Gang* Have TWO wonderful weekends!

We're hoping that most of the "summer tourists" will have left - the Cape's roads can get horribly jammed-up at times. But the forecast is for pleasant temps and great weather for walking around and enjoying the salty breezes. I keep telling myself, no going early to look at all the tables at the tag sale...but I know I will, it's irresistible! *hugs!*

We had a lovely cooldown with quite a bit of rain last week (not enough to put out our wildfires, but it helped). And now we're looking at a warm weekend before it cools off again, perfect for those who want to get out & enjoy. I have NO plans, apart from taking some nice beach walks; the current book project is back with the author and won't come back to me for a week at least. Who knows what I'll do? I recently gave a bid to a potential client, then woke up in the middle of the night panicking that I had way underbid. I hadn't, it was just one of those night things, I would adore a scone with an iced decaf coffee please!

I feel like August slipped by in a flash. We don't have any Labor Day plans yet. There was some chatter of going to the beach at some point, so we'll see. Yesterday we went to Disneyland, which was fun and quite tiring. The lines were not as bad as I feared, so most of our day was spent doing things rather than standing in lines. I made the mistake of not also taking today off from work, so am trying to survive the next few hours and get to the weekend. I had some nasty allergies flare up near the end of the day yesterday and now it feels like a minor head cold, so I sort of feel like I'm being held together by duct tape until it hits 5pm, lol. I've started having some thoughts about throwing in the towel and quitting this job at the end of the year if I can make it til then, but for now I'll just put it out of mind over the long weekend. If there's one thing I'm good at, it's procrastinating! Wishing everyone a happy weekend!

I am two weeks or so post major surgery. The first week was very hard going, but I can feel small improvements each day now. I was told to expect this to take a long time, so I think I'm tracking along pretty well. Tama is coming home on Monday, so I am enjoying the peace until then, and admiring the signs of spring in the garden before they are subjected to his enthusiasm.

Those can be "adventure days" - to wake up and simply see what happens, wherever your "nose" leads you! Is there anywhere in your area you've never visited, but have thought "Someday..." How are the plants doing?

- those of you who have one, anyway! Ours was last weekend, and was heralded by unseasonally stormy weather. No more public holidays until Christmas in England - we could really do with one in the late autumn! We're enjoying a fine warm spell just now, which is lovely for the last weekend of the school holidays. Speaking of floaty toys in the pool, I enjoy watching 'Canine dip and dive' videos online. They're just about dogs jumping into a pool and retrieving things, but some of them tiptoe in off the ramp and others launch themselves halfway down the pool. Watching their enjoyment is very cheering. No idea about smart watches - I think one of those would be a lot smarter than me. I'm not very good with techy stuff! No idea about music either, this week; I Googled 'best songs of summer 2024' and didn't recognise a single one of them! Dearie me... Grandson's no help; in his mellow moments he listens to Boy with Uke, otherwise it's groups like Slipknot. Yuk. Teenagers, eh?! Two days and it's September. Where did summer go? Of course for some of you that means yippee, here comes spring! Have a good weekend, folks! Watch out for deliriously happy dogs in that pool...

Putting together that proposal has got to be a bit nerve-bending; but they know you and trust you... so they'll be taking that into consideration, fersher! To know they're getting the best is worth a bit more for the peace of mind. No big plans for the weekend. I went to the Amish Flea Market/Quilt Auction that's held every Spring and Labor day weekend. I took daughter who was having a good day and really wanted to "get out" and do something we enjoy every year. It's a 40-minute drive, so we figure that into the endurance. She lasted longer than I expected (just over 2 hrs); but she went her way at her own pace, and I went mine at MY pace ;) It worked out great! The only bummer was that there wasn't an Elephant Ear stand to be found anywhere! *sigh* I got her home where she took a 2-hr nap ;) I hope you have good luck with the special sales... and that EVERYONE has a great weekend!

And I completely agree with you on the kielbasa instead of hotdogs. I love food... *sigh* I'm glad you have a barn to set up in to avoid any problems with rain or wind. The flea market we went to this morning was playing tag with sprinkles here and there, so a lot of the vendors either closed up or left their books, tools, toys and furniture out in the elements. Most of them had tents, though. I hope you find some true treasure for yourself just to have something from this unique Sale! HAVE FUN!!!

I'm glad yours had a happy ending :D I have found that weekends that have no real plans (like this one) tend to fill up spontaneously! Usually always for the better! I've been wondering how you are! You've been on my mind every day! I'm happy you're coming along... even though it must feel like time is crawling by. I'll bet you're anticipating some flying doggie tackle hugs on Monday! Do you have a suit of armour around anywhere? ;) Enjoy the quiet... and I hope you feel all better immediately... if not sooner! Thanks for letting us know how you're doing :)

that is screening that particular series, I haven't seen it. I might make lots of comments about the quality of it though. Did I say that out loud? Must be narcotic effects lingering from my surgery. Spring has also sprung with mega pollen and allergies. I am swimming in antihistamines, as sneezing is not a comfortable experience!

We grew up with a golden retriever... and she was more duck than dog! We lived on a lake, so she was always wet. But, then again, so were us kids! ;) Are you and the ladies busy working on any knitting projects for the Holidays? I don't know about you, but Christmas always sneaks up on me and jumps out BOO! I hope you have a great weekend :D Dog Wants a Kitty

It is a bit frustrating not being able to do anything in the garden at all, as any bending / lifting / pulling or pushing is strictly verboten by the powers that be. But I am enjoying watching the birds rushing around being very important and busy.

You were smart to go before the official holiday weekend started. But it's a bummer you're not feeling well today. Maybe after your NZ trip you'll have better luck and the perfect job will just fall into your lap! You never know what a visit to that magical land will create ;) Enjoy your weekend... and feel better!

Sudden showers can make a mess of things, if they don't have a covering - and even then the wind can be nasty. Did you pick up anything? I may browse the old books, you never know what you might find!

It's a frustrating thing, to be so restricted, I'm glad you can feel the gradual healing happening. So it all went well! And you must be doing pretty well, if Tama can come home again! He's going to be so happy to be back with his mum...and the garden...
