Merry Christmas, fellow TORNadoes! Can't Post

It's almost 7am on Christmas Day here in NZ and it's dawned bright and clear, heading towards a pleasant 21C/70F day.

When Christmas rolls around to your part of the world, post a message here and we'll make Christmas last longer than 24 hours!

I wish everyone a joyous Christmas. Smile Heart

Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Merry Christmas, New Zealand! Hari Kirihimete, Aotearoa! Mele Kalikimaka, Hawaii!
Weather report: 27C/80F, humid, sunny, rain later tonight. I'm not complaining. Summer! It's porch-sitting, ice tea-drinking weather.
We're at our special holiday place for two weeks with friends coming and going, which means food, talking, board games, bird watching and lots of rest. The greeting to Hawaii was with fond memories of time spent on Maui with family in years past when Nana lived there, which I was reminded of recently while watching Moana 2 in Maori language with English subtitles, which felt like a perfect way to share the adventures of Moana in the Pacific. It's going to be my Christmas movie from now on. Smile

Peace, friends!

Merry Christmas everyone! [In reply to] Can't Post

It's 8:30 here in southern New England, a sunny 23F/-5C outside, and a dusting of snow on the ground.

Will be roasting a turkey breast, and have salad, yams, and new potatoes to go with it. As son says, we'll boil'em, then if you want you can mash'em, but we're not gonna stick'em in a stew! Laugh

8:30 am in the Skagit Valley, Washington state [In reply to] Can't Post

Just had a lovely breakfast with my signature cranberry bread. I have "Too Hot to Handel" playing - the concert in the Royal Albert Hall. On my own today. It may be time for me to set up the DVD player I got two years ago so I can watch all the LOTR movies. Tomorrow I prepare for the deluge of extremely tall people into my hobbit hole.

Heavy rain expected here, lots of snow in the mountains (they're telling people "please don't try to cross the passes today"). I have lots of fairy lights and candles for cheer. Good day to stay snug at home!

Fetes joyeuses, tout le monde!

My annual wishes for my friends on TORn. [In reply to] Can't Post

May the Valar bless us all with:

Bilbo's charm
Thorin's majesty
Thranduil's elegance
Frodo's steadfastness
Sam's loyalty
Pippin's resilience
Merry's good nature
Aragorn's patience
Gandalf's intelligence
Legolas's grace
Gimli's sturdiness
Boromir's redemption
Eowyn's courage
Eomer's vitality
Theoden's second chance
Faramir's honor
Galadriel's wisdom
Arwen's compassion

Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow;
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow....

Christmas day was clear and bright - [In reply to] Can't Post

delightful, in fact. For the two days after, we've been immersed in mist/fogwhich was dismal - although the fairy lights looked rather pretty through the haze. Today we've seen the sky again.which was a relief. I hope you all had the best Christmas possible in your circumstances - I appreciate it's not a good time for everyone. Now we have New Year to look forward to, and lengthening days! Yay!
