It's Friday, and that means Fiesta!

Greetings! The best thing after it being time for Fiesta is that I actually remembered yesterday was Thursday, today is Friday, and so forth. Maybe, just maybe, I've reset my weekly clock. It helps that I've been watching the weather forecast day-by-day throughout the week. It's snowed every night this week and I've had some early mornings up to see if it's been enough for our neighbor's son to shovel (our agreement is he only shovels over 1", otherwise it will melt on its own). This week only required one shoveling. Has the storm (or storms) made its way through and past the mid-west and east coast? Inquiring minds want to know! Other than the weather, how has the week been treating you? Anything you're looking forward to for the weekend? Order up your favorite drinkie and let us know. Oh, and Gandalf has used some special wizardly magic on the buffet: the top three things you'd love to eat will magically appear! All you have to do is 'hoot twice like a barn-owl and once like a screech-owl" *plugs ears* give it your best! *kicks juke box* how about some George Strait!? "Amarillo by Morning" starts to play. (later I'll tell you a funny story about me and Amarillo by morning) Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!

I agree, keeping track of the days is necessary when these winter storms keep coming! Our latest is now blowing out of the area, but it's left three inches of icy slush - terrible driving on the roads, and all schools were closed. A neighbor just came by with his cool mini-plow-tractor and moved it all off to the sides in our driveway - our snowblower can't handle such moist stuff. Hot chocolate would be perfect for today! Hm...favorite foods...would the calls of a Great Horned Owl and Barred Owl be acceptable? We hear them in the woods behind our house, there's plenty of chipmunks for them! But today I'll request a bowl of potato chowder with a slice of warm home-made bread and chocolate cookies fresh from the oven. Notice emphasis on the "warm"! Ever been to a rodeo, Altaira? I've been only once, as a kid, out in Cheyenne Wyoming. I remember getting a "Frodo Lives" button from a vendor there - this would have been in the late '60s! So...do tell about Amarillo (which hasn't been spared any of this cold icy weather this year)?

It has been raining heavily all week. Today the rain let up but it is still pretty damp, grey, and gloomy. Last night I had a mini-fiesta by going to an Indian restaurant. This weekend I'm hoping to find some movie-watching time.

Hopefully there wasn't any associated flooding. I remember living in Houston for a few years where the ground-water table was so high the streets would instantly flood with heavy rains. Love Indian food! We had some from our favorite local restaurant this week courtesy of Door Dash. Do you have any particular movies teed up? Whatever you end up watching, have a wonderful weekend!

I'm really hungry for some pizza! :D Although, it doesn't go well with hot chocolate, so I'll grab a soda. THANKS ALTAIRA! I love retirement and the haze we get to fall into now and then. My haziness tends to spill out into.... everything! But it reminds me of my naughty days in the early 70s, so I won't lament it too much ;) I've been watching way too much news on what's going on out in the world and working on what has become a very long project (but great fun :), so I'm going to head out the door here and go see Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg's UNCHARTED. Love the previews and it's got a great cast, so I'm off like the snow from my shovel. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and stays safe and sound. Thank for taking such great care of us, Altaira! :D *huggles all*

More worryingly, I feel like we have had a lot of "tornado watch" alerts lately. Fortunately, none of them have escalated to a "tornado warning" or actual tornado. Indian food is great. I only recently was turned on to it, but it has a very unique taste and I appreciate the spiciness. My wife and I are big Beatles fans, and recently purchased tickets to see Paul McCartney and Ringo concerts this summer, so we are going to watch a few Beatles movies this weekend if we find time. Probably "A Hard Day's Night" (1964) and the "Eight Days A Week" documentary by Ron Howard from a few years ago. Should be fun.

Sooooo...here's my funny story about me in Amarillo by morning. I lived in Houston for three fun years, but finally decided to pack my belongings and my two cats (one black and one grey) and move back home to Colorado. I was young and watching my money so instead of buying carriers, I put water, food, and a litter box in the back of the car and away we went. I drove into Amarillo as the sun was rising and, of course, George Strait's Amarillo by Morning was playing on the radio. How perfect! I stopped for gas at a big gas station and carefully got out of the car, making sure I could see both cats inside after I closed the door. As I was filling the tank, a huge, loud motor home pulled into the station. I thought it might have scared the cats and, sure enough, peering inside, the black one was nowhere to be seen. Since the interior of the car was black, I didn't think too much of it. After I paid and went to get back to the car I was horrified to see that both cats were now nowhere to be seen! I went around the outside of the car, peering in - no cats. I carefully got back into the car and looked all over the inside - No Cats!! I carefully got back out and went looking for them. I asked all the gas station employees if they'd seen them. The answer was no. The mechanics were kind enough to look all over inside and outside the garage - No Cats. I panicked and started to cry. I couldn't stay in Amarillo indefinitely looking for my cats. "Well," I thought, "I'd better at least move my car from beside the gas tank while I give it one last try." Then it occurred to me there was one place I hadn't looked. Feeling silly, I opened the glove box and, lo and behold, a tuft of grey fur was sticking through the latch opening. I couldn't quite believe my eyes, so I looked under the passenger side floor and sure enough, a black tail was hanging down from behind the glove box. Somehow, both cats had managed to climb up into the space behind the glove box! I was overjoyed! I wanted to let the kind gas station employees know I had found them, so I VERY carefully got out of the car, ran to the door between the gas station store and garage, and loudly proclaimed: "It's okay! I found them! They were in the glove box!! The looks on their faces was priceless. Wiping the tears from my eyes I thanked them all profusely than carefully got back into my car and drove away. It wasn't until about 1/2 hour later that I realized how utterly ridiculous that must have sounded. To this day, it makes me laugh just as hard as it did that day with Amarillo by morning in the rear view mirror.

calm weather which will allow me to clear plants, obstructions (including woodstore - argh, spidery!) etc along the back garden fence before it's replaced, thanks to the hammering it received from storms Eunice and Franklin. It was pretty old anyway; it's just a hassle finding a contractor who is not too busy to do it at the moment. Still - first world problems, eh?! My life is pretty peachy compared to many just now. Thanks to reading thread recommendations I've just ordered two books online about a medic/sleuth in Roman Britain - looking forward to tackling those. Sorry, I can't choose just three favourite things for the buffet to stock, but chocolate would have to be one of them! Have a good weekend, all - cheers! Greetings to Hengist, too.*waves*

Hot chocolate, chowder and cookies, in that order please. It's been dropping into the 30s overnight here in LA county, which is...not what we're used to lol. There's nothing as unifying her as our hatred of cold weather, when it pops up. The sun is shining however, and given what a dark week it as been in terms of world events, I have a lot to be thankful for. No real plans other than seeing my girlfriend's sister in a musical theater show tomorrow night. It'll be my first "mass gathering" event since we went to some Dodger games last summer, so it'll be fun to get out of the house and see some live performances. Wishing everyone a happy weekend, and I'm keeping all Eastern European 'sibs in my thoughts.

Oooooh! A live theater performance, and a musical at that. Is it a particular musical or just 'musical theater'? Here in Colorado we usually get bitter-cold temperatures once a year in early January, so it was a surprise for us to get them again here in late February. Still, the snow is always needed. Stay warm and enjoy the weekend!
