Blake before Chris? [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not sure I agree with that. How is Blake inferior vocally to Chris? I'm not an expert, but Chris has problems mid range, which I think is a bigger problem than Blake's reaching for some notes. I think that if a singer is confident in his or her range, he or she can always work on extending that range. When I hear someone waver, like Chris does in his "comfortable" range, I think that he will have more work to do.

I think Chris has more potential. [In reply to] Can't Post

It's academic, though, because neither of them has that great a voice. Chris has shown glimpses of a richer tone quality than Blake has, but he has no technique to go with it. Blake simply doesn't have the tone quality to begin with. Anyway, it's a lot easier to fix the kinds of vocal production problems Chris has than to extend a range. Chris needs to learn how to support his voice with his breath and sustain a note -- it sounds to me like he's just never tried to do this before, because he's gotten away with using a lot of melisma and relying on amplification rather than ever singing full voice. Of course, I don't think either of them has the potential for an actual career in music.

Ah, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDGE... [In reply to] Can't Post

I liked Gina, too, and my boys absolutely loved her.
Not to win, but she could've easily gone Top 5.
Ah well, she has more of a chance with her singing now than she did in December!

And I like them BOTH better than Phil. And Sanjaya. The guys are horrible this year.

Like Peter Noone said [In reply to] Can't Post

It's a voting competition, not a singing competition. Blake will likely outlast Chris based on his popularity with the girlies alone.

Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the one great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament... There you will find romance, glory, honour, fidelity, and the true way of all your loves on earth, and more than that: Death: by the divine paradox, that which ends life, and demands the surrender of all, and yet by the taste (or foretaste) of which alone can what you seek in your earthly relationships (love, faithfulness, joy) be maintained, or take on that complexion of reality, of eternal endurance, which every man's heart desires.

Who was that loser? [In reply to] Can't Post

Who the heck is Michael Boob-lay? If he were a contestant, he might've been voted off last night. What a terrible performance. Is he French or does he just have a speech impediment that's amplified when he sings? Also, was it obvious to anyone else that this guy was all coked up? The sniffing through his post-song wisecracks was a dead give-away....

Bouble [In reply to] Can't Post

I thought for sure he was French, especially given his name, since he couldn't pronounce all the things the French have trouble with in English... or perhaps he was deaf, as it sounded like it in more ways than one. I've heard of him, never *heard* him, and man I wish Tony Bennett hadn't had the flu. Yick. That was - imagine this in Simon's accent - dreadful.

And I didn't care for Antonella Barba, but I feel great sympathy for her now. I hope she hires a bodyguard. What an appalling thing to say. Poor Seacrest.

'No,' said Gandalf, 'but I can.'

Disappointing, for sure. [In reply to] Can't Post

I actually have a CD of his, (his first), and I really enjoy it. I have to admit I was psyched when they said he was the stand - in until he started singing. I have never heard him "live" before and it was not good. No preciousss, not good at all.

(Formerly Lossefalme3, just in case you're wondering)*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Aragorn threw back his cloak. The elven-sheath glittered as he grasped it, and the bright blade of Andúril shone like a sudden flame as he swept it out. 'Elendil!' he cried. 'I am Aragorn son of Arathorn, and am called Elessar, the Elfstone, Dúnadan, the heir of Isildur Elendil's son of Gondor. Here is the Sword that was Broken and is forged again! Will you aid me or thwart me? Choose swiftly!' TTT, Book III, Chapter 2
And Éomer answered: 'Since the day when you rose before me out of the green grass of the downs I have loved you, and that love shall not fail.' RotK, Book VI, Chapter 5

The boards are buzzing 'bout Buble. [In reply to] Can't Post

Buble doesn't do well on TV to begin with (IMHO), but his Dean Martin chat routine fell so flat on AI that a lot of people thought he really was drunk. He's Rat Pack Lite on a good day, but last night was not a good plug for the new CD.

He looks more like Matt Dillon's brother than Matt Dillon's brother...

I don't remember the exact words, but Buble asked Ryan if he was just wasting his time by still voting for Antonella.
The "joke" fell flat.

I'll tape and watch a full episode, just for you.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.
