Greetings from England Can't Post

Hey there

I'm Forest/Rachel from England. UK. Recently turned 19 (geez...old now XD)...I guess I could say I'm an old newbie as I had an account on the old boards, but rarely posted. Hopefully my motivation to post has grown in the last few years ;)

I'm a student at Royal Holloway university and am studying media (all the fun of watching silent films...at 9am...). I think I'm going to absolutely generic and cliched here because my mind is somewhat foggy this morning lol. Hobby-wise; I enjoy drawing, reading, writing (esp.fanfic), cosplay, meeting up with new people and spending lonnnnng hours on the net without realising the time...

Greetings & Salutations! =P [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello,
My name is Katie and I'm originally from Boston but escaped to Vermont about 3 yrs ago. I have lurked here and the old board for years now, I've learned a lot and enjoyed getting to know you as a community from behind the scenes so TY!
I'm hoping, now that I'm a stay at home mom, to have a little more time be active.

This is me on camping trip to Maine last summer...

See ya 'round the campfire! Laugh

Hi, everyone! [In reply to] Can't Post

(Gosh, hope I'm doing this right. I feel like a newbie all over again:)

It's just me, Seillib, the prodigal poster, checking in and checking out the new digs. Very nice, but it's going to take some getting used to. It's good to see so many familiar posters. I've been MIA for a long while thanks to steady employment and a very dead computer-so long, Windows XP. I've been a member of the boards since somewhere around 2002, I think, and a huge fan of Tolkien since childhood.

I'm a short, plump person with a whole lot of very long brown hair with a lot of grey in it. I'll put up a picture of myself as soon as I can find one that doesn't frighten small children. Wink

Me too because now I can share with you that (not only have a learned a great deal whilst lurking) on occasion, I've come close to wetting myself with laughter at some of the things you all come up with! Which, some may not realize, is very good for the soul!

Most recent example: Dobby the House Elf Vs. Legolas! Laugh

What a hoot!!! But strangely enough I found I was slightly torn between laughter and pity. Although jubilant that Leggy pulled out a victory in the end, I felt a strange compulsion to somehow be able to console him and brush the teensy missed bits of violet cream meringue out of his golden locks.Unimpressed He went through so much!! ....And well, that just made me lol even more. >.<

Greetings from Sweden [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi there!

My namne is Marcus and I'm 30 years old. I live in Linköping, which is the fifth biggest city in Sweden. I have been a big Tolkien entusiast since I read The Hobbit for the first time. That was around the time of my 13th birthday. My favorite book is The Hobbit closely followed by the Lord of the Rings.

I have a girlfriend and two children, one togheter and one from her previous relationship. On my spare time I enjoy reading books, listening to music and to see a good movie.

Hello from England [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello to one and all,

My name is Steven (aka Smudger) and live in Suffolk, England with my wife. I'm a big Tolkien fan (my tattered and dog-eared copy of the FOTR still has pride of place on my bookshelf!) and when I'm not enduring my day job as a team leader in a Customer Service Centre, enjoy walking in the English countryside and writing - my first book has just been independently published. Have somehow not managed to find this website before (!) but it looks really interesting and I hope to be a regular visitor here!

May as well chip in here - Mike, aka Ufthak (the orc Shelob caught and then forgot about). Read the Hobbit when I was really young, read LotR at about 9 or so I think, have re-read regularly since then (am 25 now). I'm from Suffolk in England, but moved to Nottingham for University in 2000 and stayed. I came to TORN late summer 2000 trying to get some information on the upcoming movies, so I was here for the initial 'fangirl' rush that made us all curse the name of Orlando Bloom, along with the accompanying incursion of 13 year-olds who couldn't spell.

I'm a Supported Housing Worker (I work with the homeless) and, while not doing that, DJ at a gay/lesbian/bi/straight-friendly clubnight that plays 'alternative' music. I handle the rock and punk side of things - sadly our venue got shut down and we're now looking for a new home. That's me at work in the avatar, by the way. If I get the chance I play guitar and sing in a punk band, but a lack of drummers has made that very hard to do so I'm currently doing vocals in an industrial dance project (think sort of like The Prodigy). Oh, and when I'm not doing that, I'm sorting out my upcoming music review website that launches Monday 28th May (see post further down this forum). All of this means that I don't tend to spend much time here anymore.

My main contribution to TORN has been a few flagrant violations of posting regulations that I got away with due to my standing as a long-time member of the boards (at least, that was how some people perceived it, I prefer to think that the positives of my contributions simply outweighed the undeniable negatives), and something called Gandalf's Diary that I often try and start a sequel to only to realise that I'll never do anything that good again. I'll freely admit to never being much involved in the "hold-hands-sing-kum-ba-yah" mentality on TORN, due to the fact that it takes more that the fact that you also like Tolkein for me to decide that I like you. If you're acting like a moron, I'll tell you. Or ignore you.

Some people find me amusing. It's certainly best to not take me entirely seriously.

Kumbaya [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't buy that you have to put up with me because everyone else has stuff. And I doubt whether you have actually witnessed anyone holding hands and singing Kumbaya.

My apologies Ufthak. I begin by saying I hate Trolls & then act like one.
