Christina Ricci's Aslan tattoo

Christina Ricci's New Tattoo.... Christina Ricci has had the lion character Aslan from C.S. Lewis' The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe tattooed on her back. The actress isn't touting for a role in the new movie series based on the books - she insists the body art symbolises her difficult adolescence. Former child star Ricci, 27, explains, *It's Aslan, the lion from The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe. It's a symbol of my hellish childhood. I struggled through my oppressive teenage years and when I turned 18 I escaped. Like Aslan I was finally free." http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/entertainment/Christina+Ricci+s+New+Tattoo.-32844.html Now, I accept that there may be many good and legitimate reasons to get Aslan tattooed on one's back. But am I the only one here who suspects she hasn't read the book? I mean... 'like Aslan I was finally free'... from what? Oppressive teenage years? Er... no? This completely floored me! Now, if I got a tattoo of Gollum and said he was a symbol of my struggle against heroin, that would make some sense. Only I don't do drugs. And I'd have to do a fair few before I consented to having Gollum, permanently golluming on my shoulder blade. Any LOTR tattoos amongst you lot?
He is a very shallow critic who cannot see an eternal rebel in the heart of a conservative. --GK Chesterton There is not really any courage at all in attacking hoary or antiquated things, any more than in offering to fight one's grandmother. The really courageous man is he who defies tyrannies young as the morning and superstitions fresh as the first flowers. The only true free-thinker is he whose intellect is as much free from the future as from the past. --GK Chesterton

And boring. I just wouldn't want it anywhere that's gonna start sagging, etc. I have considered the Tolkien symbol; it's small enough to fit just about anywhere and it's elegant. I just don't have the guts, I guess. I'll have to keep watching Miami Ink - they do some really incredible work on that show. I must admit that I'm impressed and maybe even motivated by it! I don't know how I stumled across it the first time, but it's really cool.
(Formerly Lossefalme3, just in case you're wondering)*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Aragorn threw back his cloak. The elven-sheath glittered as he grasped it, and the bright blade of Andúril shone like a sudden flame as he swept it out. 'Elendil!' he cried. 'I am Aragorn son of Arathorn, and am called Elessar, the Elfstone, Dúnadan, the heir of Isildur Elendil's son of Gondor. Here is the Sword that was Broken and is forged again! Will you aid me or thwart me? Choose swiftly!' TTT, Book III, Chapter 2 And Éomer answered: 'Since the day when you rose before me out of the green grass of the downs I have loved you, and that love shall not fail.' RotK, Book VI, Chapter 5
