Books, movies, music, traveling, New Zealand: anything from Jurassic Park to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and from Gwen Stefani to Bach and Mozart: it depends on my mood, though.
New Zealand has a special interest: not just because The Lord of the Rings was filmed there (it certainly helped raise my interest), but also because it's such a beautiful, wild country. I've learned a lot when I traveled and worked there. Biggest lesson though: if you have a dream, make sure it comes true before it's too late.
First Lord of the Rings reading experience:
When I heard the movie was in production, I went to the library, knowing that, by the time the movies would hit theaters the book would be unavailable. Below and behold, I was right of course, but by then I'd read them all.
The experience itself: a fantastic story. I was fifteen and I loved the richness of it, the fantasy and the realism that came from it. When I saw the movies many, many locations felt very familiair (Hobbiton, Moria, Mordor, Rivendel) and the characters seemed more than just that; somehow it felt like watching old friends on a fantastic adventure I'd wished to be part of.
Favorite Tolkien character:
I think that would be Gandalf, because of his wisdom, his friendliness and the way Ian McKellen portrays him.
