First Lord of the Rings reading experience:
I first read LOTR right after seeing The Return of the King in theatres...yes, I admit, I saw the movies first. But by the time I had seen the trilogy I was so obsessed that I had to go right out and buy all of the books. First I read The Silmarillion, then The Hobbit, then LOTR. I fell in love. Though my first thought at reading LOTR was, "wait! this isn't like the movie!!!" But I soon realized that the books and the films are two separate things, told in two completely different (and in many cases opposite) mediums. I have since read LOTR 3-4 times and The Silmarillion and The Hobbit 7-8 times. I consider myself fairly well knowledgeable in all things Middle-earth.
Favorite Tolkien character:
Turin. I find his story both tragic and beautiful. He is one of Middle-earth's more interesting characters. I even named my dog after him.
