Tolkien's works, square- rigged tall ships and the songs sung on and about them, and space history for the most part. Hockey and killer whales to a more minor degree. I still pay attention to what's going on in Alaska as I lived there during my senior year in school and college. Severe cold, dog mushing, and a few other adventures made college quite different from what I thought it'd be. I got my Master's in Visual Impairment and I still enjoy reading books in Braille. My hope is to some day be able to afford to get LOTR in Braille.
First Lord of the Rings reading experience:
Despite having never read the book or seen FOTR, I went with two friends who talked me into going to see The Two Towers after giving me a quick 10- minute explanation of FOTR. Yeah, sure, that explained everything I needed to know. I spent one very long movie sitting there, very confused. A few days later, another friend took pity on me and lent me his EE copy of FOTR. Watching that caught my attention and I ran out and bought LOTR the book. One reading and I was hooked; it's been my favorite book ever since.
