I first read LOTR when I was thirteen and fell completely in love with it! This followed on the heels of being totally enchanted in the worlds of Narnia and Star Wars (which I still adore, but I like LOTR/TH/Tolkien way better)! I also like Mythology. I think Norse mythology is a little more interesting as opposed to Greek but that's probably because the Thor movies were just so fascinating!
The style of writing used by Tolkien is incredibly captivating! Reading his works has definitely inspired me to use descriptive, meaningful words; to not just tell a story, but to paint a picture in the minds of the listeners. Now I aspire, whenever I write anything, to achieve the same eloquence that he possessed.
Favorite Tolkien character:
Tauriel because I adore Elves and I'm a girl who loves archery and wants to be able to defend herself! Tauriel is what I'd like to be, in a certain sense! :) (Also, yes, I realize she's not in the books, but I still like her!)
Eowyn for basically the same reasons as Tauriel (except she's not an Elf ;) )!
Legolas. Who honestly doesn't like/love him?!?!?!
Frodo Baggins. I have my reasons! :)
