First Lord of the Rings reading experience:
The moment that really sticks out to me is Boromir's death. Like a great Shakespearean tragedy this mighty warrior fell to temptation, but he redeemed himself. He stood his ground against all odds and went out fighting. I had to put the book down for a few minutes when he finally died because I couldn't believe that such a man could fall, especially after realizing his mistake. I wanted to him to meet up with Frodo again and apologize, but alas that was not to happen. Boromir showed that men are flawed but are filled with heroism and courage. To this day, it still hits close to home.
Favorite Tolkien character:
I will have to say Bilbo Baggins, because he was my childhood hero. Ever since I first had the Hobbit read to me, I wanted be like Bilbo. He was kind, thoughtful, witty storyteller and most importantly courageous. These are all things I try to be, because it makes the world a little brighter for others. In the end I think Bilbo would approve of that.
