First Lord of the Rings reading experience:
i saw the movies first, and they sucked me in so deep that not a day goes by when i dont think about LOTR. when i finally read the books, they were amazing and even more reason for me to find out all the information i could about this world. now i know more about middle earth than is normal for a teenager. they are absolutely magical stories that take you away to a another world and embrace you in the full potentail of mankind as well as the simple beauty that now seems lost in our own world.
Favorite Tolkien character:
i am saying this as a fangirl and as a general fan. Boromir has to be my favorite. he's an aclaimed hero of his people and yet he's not the stereotypical knight of the round table. there are real human qualities in him that make you can relate to. and even though he is a great warrior, he is still suseptable to the powers of the ring just as much as anyone else. he is a hero, not a villian. anyone of them could have fallen to the power of the Ring, would that make them evil? Sean Bean executed the role perfectly, with a yearning to go home and yet there is a sense of pride that makes him think that he is invincible to the Ring. in the end, he wishes to be the one who brought Gondor back from the shadows.
