First Lord of the Rings reading experience: Pretty sure it was the fall of 1977; I associate the musical version of War of the Worlds w/reading it...my brother & I had each gotten the Ballantine boxed set the previous Christmas. My brother read his right away & loved it, & being the obnoxious big sister, I had to tease him about it & didn't read my set. One day I had absolutely nothing else to read, so I started Fellowship & was immediately hooked. As soon as I read the last page, I turned back to the beginning & started again!
Favorite Tolkien character: I've been an Eowyn fan from my first read...I WAS Eowyn all through junior & senior high schoolŚdoing what the guys did rather than what the girls did. A close second favorite character is Faramir...he was noble but humble. You could see his uncertainties & his hurt over the way Denethor treated him.
Elves and Dragons or Cabbages and Potatoes: Elves and Dragons
