painting on the foreign site. One is the Shadow Host, probably at the Stone of Erech. The other I can't place. It looks like the Man in the Moon, perhaps when Frodo sang about him? They aren't on Rolozo Tolkien. Thanks for calling my attention to it.

Bayeux tapestry, as was Tolkien's other favorite illustrator, Pauline Baynes. Tolkien was not generally a fan of modern art, but many modern artists were inspired by pre-Rennaissance art, or by art completely outside the European tradition.
