Would have repented Thorin liked to be buried with the arkenstone? Can't Post

I think it is a bit of dishonour for him being repented that way in his last breath and then having the most important jewel dwarves have, the one he got mad about and almost killed one of his best friends for it

What do you think?

It was the highest honor that any King Under the Mountain could have [In reply to] Can't Post

Thorin would have understood that, although it's hard to say if he would have preferred to have the jewel buried or remain in the possession of the new king. It will be interesting to see if the EE addresses this. In the book, the Arkenstone is a great heirloom, but in the movie they've expanded that and said that possessing the jewel gives the king "the right to rule". So if they bury it with Thorin in the movie EE, then does King Dain actually possess it? Unless it's mere presence in the mountain counts as possession.

If we see Thorin buried with the Arkenstone part of it will likely be playing up the idea that he truly earnt it. However I think another reason may well be to underline the idea that the kind of kingship it became to represent may also be over with Dain being a more humble ruler.
