I appreciate the tip... I'll have to look around and see about finding it.

PS. There's no such scene in the book about the clothesline! But there could well have been, given the characters and the setting. The author worked really hard to capture small-town living in early 1960s Oregon, and how different it was from the way people were living in the cities.

His Spirit of St Louis was published 20 years later, telling the same story in more detail and has much more mature and literary writing style.
