I actually liked it when the movies strayed into ridiculous slapsticky stunts. It felt like the book, which had it's share of goofy and perhaps childish humor (Tolkien milked the "Bombur is fat" jokes for all they were worth). That's actually what I was looking for in the movies; a fun action-filled adventure story populated with charming and memorable characters and a few heartfelt and touching scenes sprinkled throughout. The Dwarves were wonderfully designed for that sort of story with personalities that played off each other very well, and AUJ followed the formula perfectly. I loved Radaghast and his rabbits, I love the Goblin King, and I loved the escape from Goblin Town. [
