Is Azog really Bolg's father?

Or is it possible that in the films they are not related? Is it ever even mentioned?

But if orcs "spawn", and there are no mothers...

How are they supposed to go about that? Do the males "give birth" somehow..? I probably don't want to know.

But Bolg's mom was cheating on Azog with a lot of folk I imagine. Perhaps in the EE we will have a cameo of Darth Vadar arriving to explain to Bolg that he is his father. Much could be speculated. Deep questions here!

And since Orcs are corrupted Elves (particularly in the films), they need mothers to give birth. They can't be an all-male race.

Bolg is the spawn of azog in the movies. And no, theres no mom. There is scant evidence to support the notion that Bolg did not have a mother. Jackson's Uruk-hai seem to be alchemically generated, but then Saruman was in a hurry to raise his army and probably cheated.

Legolas' mom! She didn't die in Gundabad -- she left Thranduil for Azog. Legolas killed his half brother!

Pretty sure Philippa has said as much. .No mother. And I should take Ms. Boyens' word over Tolkien's authority? Maybe in Janson's Middle-earth, but 'pretty sure' is far from an authoritative quotation.

Of course, I meant (Peter) Jackson, not 'Janson'. And, as important as Boyens is to the film series, I would still have it out of Jackson's own mouth.
