Freebird? to the remark that it looks like a concert, with all the lighters. "Freebird" was a song performed by the rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd in the 1970s. Every concert they did people would yell for them to do that song, so it became something of a joke that someone would yell "Freebird!" at any rock concert, no matter who was performing. According to Wikipedia: It has become something of a humorous tradition for audience members at concerts to shout "Free Bird" as a request to hear the song, regardless of the performer or style of music.[7] The phenomenon began earlier in the 1970s with The Allman Brothers Band's "Whipping Post" and Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" but then took off with "Free Bird" by 1979. On Skynyrd's first live album, 1976's One More from the Road, Van Zant can be heard asking the crowd, "What song is it you wanna hear?" The "deafening" calls for "Free Bird" lead into a 14-minute rendition of the song. Kevin Matthews claimed to have further popularized it in the 1980s from his Chicago-area radio show.[7]

who like Legolas a lot, including his OTT stunts, and find him an important character too, for LOTR as well!... Don't worry, we who care about the funeral will get it in the BOTFA EE . The ordinary crowd doesn't care, most of the critics don't either, and would complain again about too many endings, and being bored, just like they did for ROTK. PJ is no fool, he will not make the same mistake twice, when now he knows he can keep it all for the EE and those fans who care!

it gave the ending a lack of glory and made it ALL about Bilbo. I think having a proper funeral scene would have made the ending of this trilogy feel all about Thorin, instead what we saw was not ceremony, but Bilbo's personal grief.

In the same vein, I loved that silent moment with Bilbo and Gandalf sitting together after the battle. It said so much.
