Hello there! I was just watching the first extras dvd of the fellowship extended edition and began to wonder: Is that 90 page treatment that Fran Walsh and Peter Jackson wrote available? Can I have a look at it somwhere? I'm not trying to do anything illegal, I am just very curious how that specific document was structured since it seemed to be very impressiv. Philippa Boyens, for example spoke of it in praise. ???

I don't remember this ever being available to the public.

It'd be interesting to read, though. This would have been back when there were two LOTR films planned, right? (Before the meeting with New Line when they were asked why not have three films as there are three books.)
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. Exactly! I fear that the document hasn't even been digitized to this day...

But I doubt that Philippa really thought it was that great. I've seen the pitch film that Peter showed to New Line when they were considering buying the project from Miramax. It included some storyboard scenes with voiceover by actors, though obviously not the ones who eventually were in the film. (I believe Craig Parker was one of them.) A few clips from these made it into the EE supplements. But there were some pretty awful things in this crude pre-viz, including a sappy argument between Arwen and Aragorn. When I interviewed Philippa for THE FRODO FRANCHISE, she told me that they put into that early script what they thought they had to to sell it to a studio and planned to change it later. Everything that I know about this early material is in my book.
