144m Running Time Confirmed Can't Post

From the FSK (German classification board):

http://fsk.de/asp/filestream.asp?dir=karte&file=1411\148566K.pdf

EDIT: I'm having trouble linking anything directly so just go on there and search 'Hobbit'. It should be the first match.

Awhile ago someone posted that the Credits are 13 minutes long? [In reply to] Can't Post

If correct, then only 127 minutes for the Feature?

That IZzz the Shortest of the three @
2 hours 7 minutes...Well, that is Fast-Paced allright?..
but maybe we will STILL be exhausted...

Yet?... PJ said something the EE for this
having the Most additions?
like 40 something minutes?

Does anyone remember that Amount?

Seems right for the content. [In reply to] Can't Post

Smaug - 12 minutes
Rescue Camp/move to Dale - 10 minutes
DG - 12 minutes
Meanwhile at Erebor - 5 minutes
Gundabad - 5 minutes
Gandalf/Negotiations - 15 minutes
Arkenstone/Dale - 12 minutes
BotFA - 45 minutes
aftermath - 10 minutes
Return Journey/Epilogue - 8 minutes
Credits - 10 minutes

Obviously just one potential solution.

The battle could easily have been cut shorter which would leave more room for the other scenes.

Bom likes your Breakdown..except [In reply to] Can't Post

Don't think Mount Gundabad would be 5 minutes
more like three..?
Which leaves TWO minutes more of Room
for the BadEnd Auction
Maybe?

The more Hobbiton the Better... since it would be such a Great contrast to this Freezing Cold Battle.

Bom would like a bit of a Montage (Slow Dissolves) of the Return journey Back with Many Outdoor Landscapes since MiddleEARTH is a Character too! (No dialogue, just Howard's Music)

Ideally, a Nice, but short warm Yule-Time at Beorn..zz lodge?
This a Christmas Movie...isn't it?

A cool image reading book 47 years ago was the Three:
Beorn (10 foot Tall)
Gandalf ( 6 & a Half foot Tall) and
Bilbo ( 3 foot 6 inches) walking into a Sunset
Silhouetted..
littl' ol' bomby WILL BURST into Tears, There..
(If I haven't already)

Once again, Thank YOU for your breakdown..

At some point... [In reply to] Can't Post

... Jackson planned the battle to be between 20-25 minutes. These reports popped up several days ago but were of course said by PJ back in 2013 during pick-ups.

I think the 45 minutes should still be taken with a large grain of salt. I think it will be shorter, as I assume the 45 minutes are pushing the limits of what can be counted as "part of the battle" for marketing reasons. Plus, the beginning of the battle does not mean the end of character moments - the separation of the Free Peoples will create a lot of room for character moments within the battle - Thorin being convinced to join the battle and stuff like that. And of course the duels on Ravenhill.

Anyway... minus 12 minutes for the credits and 10-15 minutes for an epilogue and estimating a max. 45 minute battle, that would still leave around 75 minutes for the build-up. And with the potential being high that the battle will be rather shorter.

Now look at other movies and what PJ was able to tell within 70+ minutes before... I don't see why it would have to feel rushed by default, as some fear.

(For comparison: both Helm's Deep and Pelennor Fields do not cross 20 minutes in length if I remember correctly.)

Agreed, seems a good length to me. [In reply to] Can't Post

Most of the characters are already 'there', most of the characters are already introduced. The build up has all been done so it's now pretty much all pay off. Any longer in the TC could seem like dragging it out and just too much battle so to speak. Only a few more days now! :)
