YOU made my day! What a Great Way to Wake UP on a Cold Sunday Morning... It seems to have about 5 sections in 5 minutes.. 1. OLD Ancient sounding bagpipes.. ( Having Ancient Scottish roots myself, that was a...THRILL...) Then iz a kinda Gallopin' Back Beat that evoked Images in bomz head, Of the many WAR Boars Charging Over That Hill..in the bits & pieces of video we have seen... 3. THEN the Full Symphony (NZ'z FINEST in Wellington Town Hall) really SHOOTZ into your Heart (bom got really teary-eyed) 4. THEN...IT .. haz a Short Flute Solo (Throw back Sir James Gallwayzz Flute in theH obbiton? Theme) with jus' the Hoof Beat sounds... (Could be the impending Face-oof off with Azog) 5. THEN it growzzz.. really ominous.. with Deep Maori Singing (Which) implies?.. the Death of Azog.. & Dain looking at a Mortally wounded Thorin, & maybe dead.. Kili & Fili. (Which bom does NOT want to picture) Then a Quiet resolution... THIZ SHOULD ba a Terribly Emotional section OF Our Film. Thankzz again (Another Attempt to write like a "Hallmark" Card by THAY "un-film-able" guy in the Old Forest?)

Don't read too much into it! We have a reprise of Dain's theme, Girion's theme, and (I believe) some new Bard/Lake-town material towards the end.

So is the consensus that this won't be in the film?

I mean it appears last in the track listing, and it does sound like it turns into a sort of "and now the credits" tune - but we know we're getting that Billy Boyd pop song for the credits right? (excuse me whilst I throw up a little in my mouth). Sounds like it's for a Coronation / Epilogue-style scene that got the chop from the Theatrical or something Shame because it's the best thing on the soundtrack.

I really wish I could take all of Howard Shore's stuff and rescore the hell out of these films. So much epic stuff was left out - I mean what happened to that amazing choral bit from "Radagast the Brown" in AUJ?? The whole situation is bananas...

It's variations of what is in the main body of the OST

Dain's full theme appears in 'Battle for the Mountain' (and possibly elsewhere); the Bard/Lake-town theme appears in 'The Darkest Hour' (and possibly elsewhere), a stirring version of Girion's theme will surely be heard in 'Fire and Water' (and possibly elsewhere) and a rendition of the other new Bard theme is heard in 'Shores of the Long Lake' (and possibly elsewhere). Of course the renditions in 'Ironfoot' will be unique but it's largely just variations of themes put together.

So sombre...these people have been burned, ripped from their homes. I hope the film shows them get the happy ending they deserve, with a good and just ruler!

The guy who saw the movie stated that there is a great musical choice during the Smaug attack scene. Maybe that's what it is !

Like "Dreaming of Bag End" and "Beyond the Forest", it's an end credits composition. But, at the very least, we know that Dain's theme appears elsewhere in the score - because you can hear it in the sample of "Battle for the Mountain" (albeit without bagpipes).
"The danger with any movie that does as well as this one does is that the amount of money it's making and the number of awards that it's got becomes almost more important than the movie itself in people's minds. I look at that as, in a sense, being very much like the Ring, and its effect on people. You know, you can kind of forget what we were doing, if you get too wrapped up in that." - Viggo Mortensen
