What was Farmer Maggot's first name?

Isn't it strange that Mrs. Maggot called him "Maggot"?

He wouldn't allow Tolkien to use him in his book if he gave away this embarrasing information.

I had thought of using “Maggot” for his first name as a final kicker (really!). I had a tongue-in-cheek historical tale in my mind of how we use Farmer John today, etc. But there is a mention of the Maggots as a family. Also there are several references to Mrs. Maggot, so I reconsidered using Maggot as a first name as it just doesn’t seem to wash. That’s not to say that absolutely positively Maggot was not his first name. Perhaps they used a different linguistic way of describing a family in the Marish. It would be fun though if anyone wants to follow through with “What was Maggot’s LAST NAME” (as Ethel Duath asks). Let’s go for it.

Lots of people with repeated fore and surnames. So Maggot Maggot could be legit... Just imagine going through life with a name like that. Yech! But (for now) the pole shows farmer "Farmer Maggot" ahead by a nose -

Marvin Maggot, lead singer of Hairy Feat. They had one hit single in the 1960s and that was the last we heard of his career. No wonder he hid in his garden.
