Royd Tolkien's cameo spotted in Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition Can't Post

Eagle-eyed Ringers spotted Royd Tolkien in the Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition.  You can see him here in this scene between Gandalf and Beorn discussing the tombs in Rhudaur.

And confirmed by Royd himself via his Twitter feed :)

Is this a cameo in The Desolation of Smaug Extended? (30 seconds in?)

Yes :)

I met Royd at the first ORC in Pasadena... [In reply to] Can't Post

in 2005. He signed my 50th Anniversary Ed. of LotR. He was a really nice guy, and talked with the fans a lot.

How nice to have him again [In reply to] Can't Post

in this Trilogy, after he appeared already in the LOTR one!
I like him. An open face, eyes and smile.
And to have at least one (younger) member of that family appreciating these films to the point of participating in them as an extra, is so comforting in a way...
Thank you for your unflinching support, dear Roy! Wink
