Laugh Thrall Wars!: What business do Elves, Dwarves or Men(?) have with drooling thralls, yea, with smartphones in tow, unto the slopes of Erebor? ... oh, yes, the Hobbit's lingering in some shadows, ever ready to swoop to the hairy rescue. Take cover if you dare! Teh partsies: Prologue (aka the 'tater-mash of whatever came before), two, three, three-appendix: An Unexpected Flashback, four, five (new, posted 20 August)

That's how it goes in the book too, [In reply to]

isnt it?... If I remember well, Bilbo goes to meet Bard and Thranduil about the Arkenstone... and in the end suddenly lo and behold, Gandalf too appears from under his hooded cloak, and congratulates his Hobbit friend for his action. Their dialogue after that seems to have been changed a bit, but is still substantially what it is in the book, only made slightly 'stronger', if you see what I mean! Tongue

     small details [In reply to]

Apart from Thranduil not wanting to warn Thorin. If this is true it is these sort of small details that show a complete change of character and evil intent on Thranduils part. It certainly doesn't reflect the Goblins as a common enemy, especially hated by the elves in accordance with Tolkiens books.

Guys, this issue of Total Film already has a thread. [In reply to]

Here.

Just a reminder to everyone - please scan the first page to see if there's already a thread on that topic before you post a new one. Every new thread pushes another one off the page, and people are having a hard time keeping up already. Thanks!
