There's an election tomorrow

I am getting my hair cut in the morning. It is important to look one's best at the polling booth. I did my bit at work today, cranking up the 'get out and vote' message. We are lucky people, to have the opportunity to have our say, when so many do not. Thank you, Kate Sheppard. I was horrified to discover several young women in my workplace did not know who she was. They definitely know now. Fingers crossed...

The first country in the world to do it. Took down the party hoarding from my front fence. Nothing can be displayed after midnight.

" . . . and the abolishment of corsets." But on behalf of the lungs and sciatic nerves of millions, for this she deserves undying thanks! Amazing woman. Thanks for the link! And best of luck on the elections.

So it must be today, eh? Seriously, as a permanent resident, I get to vote in the land that first made it possible for me to do so. http://www.nzhistory.net.nz/...tics/womens-suffrage Pretty cool. Getting a bit emotional about that. Thank you, New Zealand!

Hopefully a Labour/Green coalition. Hell will freeze over before I vote for a party on the Right.

Or at least, the masses in your workplace. :D I voted on Wednesday - I heartily approve of being able to vote early, especially when there's a polling booth a floor down from my office and I can avoid today's storm. But I'm most happy about today because the electioneering is *finally* over! And perhaps we can stop seeing so many reproductions of Colin Craig's spooky grin on our streets.
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. I had planned to go to my local polling booth on the way back from my haircut, but it was madness, with absolutely no parks, and packs of aged drivers scaring me. Next I thought I would go and vote after walking Midgey, but there were no parks in the shade. So I finally voted on the way to do my grocery shopping. I can't imagine not voting on the actual day, I think I would find it very hard to do. I need the election day vibe. But it's great to have advanced voting for people who may not be able to get there on the day. And a lot of people would agree with you, it seems, as the advanced voting rate seems to be high. My Mum would have loved this election campaign - so wild, you would never make it up! PS, we were all gossiping about Colin and the press secretary at the hairdresser today.

(isn't that logical?), so I carefully coloured inside the lines. Then I noticed the instructions about the tick marking, so I did that too. My ballot was well and truly marked!

it's remarkable that National's not only increased its vote *and* could probably govern alone, but they're doing it going into their third term. John Key doesn't so much have a Teflon coating as a Teflon force-field. One good thing: that horrible Hone Harawira is finally out of Parliament. And Colin Craig failed again.

more than 77% of people had bothered to vote. And I am sad Hone lost his seat. I have met Kelvin Davis and found him very likeable, but I would like to see Hone in parliament. I think he will be back, but he has been given a sound message he needs to listen to in terms of who he chooses to align with. If there is one thing to be grateful for it's the Conservatives making no headway. The garden got a good thrashing this afternoon.
