So fellow thralls, this weekend the CHOW's at one of our three favourite DOS scenes It was quite last minute, but in my foot-in-mouth curiosity looking through the CHOW signup post, volunteered to do it if no one's taking it, and now I've managed to tag myself. Anyway, I should have it up in the next 24 hours, so please look for it and you know the drill.

Re Legolas' haircolour. I have actually never read the arguments stating Legolas should/could have dark hair instead of blond. Due to the same reason as you gave us, I saw the movie Legolas first. Therefor Legolas will always and forever look exactly like OB's Legolas, to me at least. Plus I just like to think Legolas inherited his haircolour from his dad and granddad. Although I could not find any description concerning Oropher's haircolour (maybe I overlooked something?) Agreed here! And re Oropher, nope, I don't think his hair colour was mentioned anywhere. Would be cool if the Mirkwood Magnificence' genealogy gets uncovered someday.

I have seen it several times already, it's one of my fav's But what I hadn't paid attention to (maybe only subconsciously) is how tall Thranduil is compared to, well everybody. Don't think there is any crew/castmember as tall as he is. And when he wears his crown it adds up to another 4 inches

I'm so glad this week's CHOW has fallen into the hands of a fellow Thraller. Someone who knows how to appreciate every little detail the scene has to offer and will naturally enhance the magnificence of King Elvenpretty (and son). I'm sure you will work wonders. So I can't wait 'till you post it ! Just a little something to get in the mood

How do ppl come up with it? (and how do you keep on finding it?) tumblr I.Am.Confused.LoL.
*sigh* Hmm might need to add HCF to my evergrowing watchlist as well. Well, you have until next June(?) to finish season 1
*double sigh* Halfway through the second season of PD, unfortunately. Unfortunately because there isn't a third one to look out to. I just love dorky and sweet Ned Yeah. I loved the show. Can't wait to know what the creator has up his sleeves re revival/continuation/sequel(?) Thanks for the reciprocal Pretty! Always nice to get responses and have a few LoLs. Plus as you can tell, it's pretty much just you and me around right now. So thanks for making this a dialogue

So I got curious and went looking for the AUJ TE bit

Since I just couldn't recall what was in it vs the EE. Here is the clip of Thranduil's entire appearance in AUJ. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlxoR1KAPNY Hmm... Bilbo's narration did mention 'Thranduil would not risk the lives of his people against the dragon's wrath". So it wasn't that abjectly lazy a shorthand by the movie-makers I thought it was But it is certainly still confusing with the large entourage Thranduil had and showing up right then seemingly with no context. Anyway, Bilbo's words were clear. So why's the general audience, and even some fans who should be more discerning, still on his case about not helping? Neon signs needed? (Clicky for the original images with the inscriptions)

There were 2 guys taller than LP I believe
[In reply to]

The kiwi (can't remember his name) who stands in for Gandalf, Elves, and the Men when they have a full height scene with the Dwarves and Hobbit. Think he is the current Bolg. Also, the guy who originally played Bolg/Azog(?) when they were focusing on animatronics and prosthetics for the 2 orcs. Will find the info after I get the CHOW up.
And when he wears his crown it adds up to another 4 inches Love how intensely focused LP/Thranduil is here.

Addendum: Known cast/crew taller than Thranduil/LP
[In reply to]

So here we go: Conan Stevens was the original Bolg, 7ft tall. Don't know if he still counts since he was cut off from the production .This is the story.. The other guy I mentioned is Lawrence Makaore who took over as CGI Bolg. You might already know he is also the stand-in for most if not all those shots where perspective is needed for Dwarves/Hobbit full body shots with taller characters. Believe he had the same job in LotR and was also Lutz, Gothmog the deformed orc leader and the Witchking of Angmar. I thought he was also something like 7ft but he's 6' 4". So I guess with known info, bottomline is you're right! Thranduil is probably the tallest on the set.
