Is it just me.... Can't Post

Or do all the CGI orcs through the film look like old people? I am sorry, but that' the ONE thing I will give practical makeup over the CGI. The CGI orcs look all identical, as if the same 2 models were used for 50 orcs. Added to that, they look like old men, old men with painted faces.....is it just me? xD

Size matters...

Yes [In reply to] Can't Post

At least, I don't see them that way. A lot of the prosthetic orcs looked like gnarly old people to me though.

...because lots of people don't seem to like computer graphics.

Myself, I can't see it. I think the CGI in these films - CGI in general - is amazing, and as for the orcs, for sure they are grey, scaly and wrinkly, and not the least bit pretty, but that's just the design. Dwarves have facial hair, hobbits are beardless and curly, elves are beardless with long straight hair in a variety of colours depending where they live and orcs are grey, scaly and wrinkly. But they look like orcs (as conceived for these films). Heavens, if I saw any old people who looked like that I'd run a mile! And I can't agree that they all look alike. There seem to be a lot of recognisable individuals there, so far as I can see.

Possibly, it is just you [In reply to] Can't Post

Must say, it never occurred to me that any of the Orcs look like old people. Really, I don't know what all the fuss is about when it comes to the CGI for the Orcs – this is not one of the things that bothers me about DOS. I thought the stiff-faced prosthetics Orcs, particularly in RotK, looked somewhat odd, possibly because by the final LotR film the make-up had been taken to an extreme. Less is more, sometimes…

I agree with dormouse and Glorfindela. [In reply to] Can't Post

I didn't think the Orcs in LotR looked any better, just different.
