The Portrait of Bilbo in AUJ

With the trilogy coming to a close in the coming months i decided to watch AUJ again to prepare for the end, and while watching the intro with Ian Holm's Bilbo, I pondered upon something that I would normally dismiss. When Bilbo first opens the red book and stares at the old portrait of himself I could not help but think that one of the members of Thorin's Company must have given it to him, as he has several portraits of family members and even himself elsewhere in the house, but this one he keeps in the chest with all his various other mementos from the Quest of Erebor, clearly indicating that this portrait was related to the quest. My personal theory is that Ori is the one who draws it and gifts it to Bilbo in the third movie or perhaps in the extended edition of DOS, this would accomplish three things that would be beneficial to the trilogy as a whole 1. It would give Ori a nice moment with Bilbo (He perhaps has some of the least screen time of any of the dwarves) 2. It would help connect the third movie back to a moment in the prologue of the first movie 3. Cement the fact that Bilbo was not so much concerned with his younger appearance in that moment, but was rather reminiscing about an old friend who drew it for him. (Which would be nice for his character) Perhaps I am just crazy and giving too much credit for the ability of the crew to plan ahead, but I truly believe we will get something to due with this portrait in the coming movie. Further evidence to indicate that it is infact Ori would be that it is known that he carries around a journal and writing implements and that the paper it is on seems to be about the same dimensions as Ori's book. What do you guys think? Discuss away!

Thank you for this, I was completely unaware that this was already confirmed. Well now I feel a bit silly, oh well such is the nature of life. I am looking forward to the scene as you said, it should bring things full circle quite nicely.

And don't fret, at least you know you were on the right lines. Perhaps all the Dwarves give Bilbo a parting present?

I am very much looking forward to the moment with Ori and I hope it's included in the TE of the movie because it will be so poignant and such a great little moment. Cheers to BoT5A in December!

I've always loved those books in the films. As for the drawing, I'd love to see Ori give it to Bilbo! It would be such a nice moment to see.

If there are enough people on the forum that want to purchase one, then I'm guessing he might do a deal on multiple purchases (since he did one for you on another forum, Elessar, if I'm right?) I got a quote a couple of years ago from him, but it was out of my price range; beautiful as it is.

Can at least ask him... It does look amazing. I will ask for a quote anyway, just because I can't not. Many things I can resist, but not books!

and resisting the temptation of the red book, which I probably can't afford. But anyway, just want to comment re the OP's nic: If SGH9564 is your car license plate number, I reckon it's only polite to say "Hi" to a fellow resident of the little red dot. If I got it wrong, I didn't say nuthin'
I'm a lurker. Fan of both books and movies; it seems I have severely misnamed myself... for the moment. Appreciating Thranduil, thread by thread: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII (Tis true! More appreciation threads for Thranduil exist than ME movies) Thrall Wars!: What business do Elves, Dwarves or Men(?) have with drooling thralls, yea, with smartphones in tow, unto the slopes of Erebor? ... oh, yes, the Hobbit's lingering in some shadows, ever ready to swoop to the hairy rescue.
