Answers, results and prizes! [In reply to] Can't Post

I hope you all had fun playing. I was deliberately a bit mean with some of them, but they were all guessed correctly. Here are the correct answers:

      1. Evenstar
      2. A Knife in the Dark
      3. Silver Spoon(s)
      4. Seat of Seeing
      5. Barrow-downs
      6. The Mirror of Galadriel
      7. Orthanc
      8. Midgewater Marshes
      9. Cold be hand and heart and bone
      10. Goldberry
      11. Weathertop
      12. Hall of Fire
      13. The leaves were long, the grass was green
      14. Shadowfax
      15. Buckleberry Ferry
      16. Old Forest
      17. Deep roots are not reached by the frost

Results (although you might have to double check!):

      zarabia - 14
      BlackFox - 16
      Bracegirdle - 13
      Rembrethil - 16
      weaver - 11
      Ainu Laire - 12
      SirDennisC - 8
      Kim - 12
      Gramma - 13
      Silverlode - 16

      Which means ...

SirDennisC wins the booby prize - a time machine so he can go back and try again!

We have joint winners - BlackFox, Rembrethil and Silverlode - give yourselves a pat on the back. Wink

      Thanks for playing!

So, I have a question [In reply to] Can't Post

I mostly missed the quotes from the book, and am most confused by, "Cold be hand and heart and bone." Where is that from/what is it in reference to?

“Will you follow me, one last time?”

Tricksy! [In reply to] Can't Post

I ran out of ideas, so I turned to the first lines of some of the songs/verses in FOTR. Wink

"Cold be hand and heart and bone" is from Fog on the Barrow-downs chapter. The wight sings it when the Hobbits are in the barrow. Gollum sings a similar line in the TTT movie.

"The leaves were long, the grass was green" is the first line of the Song of Beren and Luthien.

And "Deep roots are not reached by the frost " is from "All that is Gold Does Not Glitter".
