Laketown Luau - Get Lei'd at San Diego Comic Con Can't Post

We are going all out with our Luau theme for the Laketown Luau, including a Lei for every attendee. This in addition to our Tiki Pinata and the Hula costume contest, including a mundane category for those not in costume. Don't worry, there will be props to help you along.

But first, we wanted to make sure you could find the Kona Kai resort, so here are some transportation tips straight from our Eventbrite Event page.
Yes, the Kona Kai is on the shuttle route, please take the Teal Shuttle from the front of Hall C, it is about a 30 minute drive on the shuttle. You can also drive to the hotel, we have negotiated the low parking rate of just $10 for the evening, the best deal you will get on parking during SDCC.

Driving Instructions from the Convention Center: Head North on North Harbor Drive to Scott Street (past the airport), and turn left. Turn left again on Shelter Island Drive, and follow as the road bends to the right to the main entrance of the Kona Kai Resort and Spa on the right. It is the last hotel, after the Best Western. Immediately turn right into the parking lot.

Driving Instructions from the North: From 1-5 South, take 1-8 to Rosecrans Rt. 209. Continue straight for 3 miles, and turn left on Shelter Island Drive. Follow the road as it bends to the right to the main entrance of the Kona Kai Resort and Spa on the right. It is the last hotel, after the Best Western. Immediately turn right into the parking lot.

When you leave, you must make the circuit around the Roundabout, in a counterclockwise manner (to the right).

Prizes for our games have begun to roll in, you won't believe some of the cool stuff you could win. Our wonderful Co-Sponsor WETA Workshop, has some really beautiful items, and will also be sending several of their very talented artists. Our steadfast supporting sponsors at Badali Jewelry have submitted some geek worthy jewelry, and we may even have a few surprises we can't tell you about just yet. And all you have to do to join us is click on the Event page link further up this post and buy your tickets. We are filling up quite rapidly now since the convention is so close in and everyone can now see their schedule.

One final note, there will be a Hula competition. We don't expect you to be experts at the Hula, or to be able to tell a story with it, which is what the tradition of Hula is all about. But to participate in this contest and compete for prizes, you will need to be able to do a few steps, in front of everyone else, and demonstrate the Aloha Spirit in some manner. If you are in costume, then dance the Hula in character. How might a Dwarf hula differ from that of Doctor Who? And if you are not in costume, utilize one of our props to get into the proper Hula spirt and give it a go. It is all about having fun.

For your eduction, here is another Hula tutorial video. We will try and show at least one more before the convention starts so that between all the tutorial videos we are linking to, you should be good to go.
