Not documentaries [In reply to] Can't Post

These are both fiction films based on Tolkien life and on Tolkien's and Lewis's friendship. I'm sort of hoping neither actually gets made.

One of them... [In reply to] Can't Post

Attractive Films' Tolkien & Lewis will be directed by Simon West who is perhaps best know for directing Con Air, Lara Croft : Tomb Raider, When a Stranger Calls (2006 remake) and The Expendables Two.

I don't know... this is the sort of movie I'd look to for finding a director for a biopic on Tolkien and Lewis.

Seriously?! [In reply to] Can't Post

Hahahaha, that amuses me to no end. I guess he wants to be taken more seriously as a director?

I'll admit to liking Expendables 2. I've heard Tomb Raider was atrocious, though. I guess it will be an interesting experience.

Does the Tolkien Estate have to give permission for these kinds of things?

Maybe West has similar plans to Clint Eastwood... [In reply to] Can't Post

...use popular action movies to pay the bills and make more artistic films because he wants to.

No, though I am not that fond of Lewis [In reply to] Can't Post

I suppose Tolkien does figure in the film, though. I should watch it someday.

(Actually, I liked OUT OF THE SILENT PLANET, but am not keen on the Narnia series.)
