Boy, that list brought back memories. Many of those I read in school. My daughter told me to read The Shadow of the Wind, which I liked very much, and now that I remember it (!) I want to read it again. I just could not stand A Confederacy of Dunces - I stopped almost before I started. Cloud Atlas is sitting on my shelf to be read; ditto for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, although I saw a recording of the National Theatre Live stage production and absolutely loved it. The Bell Jar was beyond depressing. The Secret History was given to me to read by a friend who always gives me intriguing books and unusual stories that are outside the mainstream, and I found it fascinating. I think the only people who could have read 6 or fewer from that list would have to be quite young.
