Oh, it was real alright [In reply to] Can't Post

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug Official Movie Guide book had a whole section about the food preparation. It was all real!

The food prep people would spend hours upon hours in the kitchen, cooking up all that stuff. They said the Bag End eating scene was a bit of a nightmare because after filling the table with all that food, they'd have to take dozens of pictures to be sure they knew what was there and exactly where they had put it. Then, when the dwarves would eat and destroy everything take after take, the food people had to go back and replace whatever was missing and make it look exactly the way it was before for the sake of film continuity.

Pretty much all the food in other scenes, like Rivendell and Beorn's house, etc, was real as well. What dedication! Cool

With a memory
Love came and whispered a story
That awakened a dream,

I am a dreamer, take me higher
Open the sky up, start a fire
I believe even if it's just a dream"

yes it was real food, alot of the scenes had them eating and the bombur catching the egg in his mouth was all real from AUJ aswell.
