The Silmarillion Series (long post) Can't Post

Hi all
I read an article on here lately about The Silmarillion being done as a movie trilogy. I disagreed with the format and commented about how it would be best done as a multiple-season TV series. Anyway, I wrote my own episode summaries as how I would do it. I tried to get in contact with the admin to post it as a guest article but got no reply, so I will post it here to see what people think, if anyone would like to take the time to read it. Smile

(Obvious spoilers for The Silmarillion)
Season 1: The Fall of the Noldor
Season 1 would be a retelling of the Fall of the Noldor, beginning with Feanor’s making of the Silmarils and ending with his death. The main characters would be the Elves, with the Valar as background characters. The Ainulindale and the Valaquenta would be talked about as legend and the first few chapters of Quenta Silmarillion would be told in flashback as ‘cold opens’ at the beginning of the episodes.
A lot of dialogue and character development would have to be created for the first two seasons as well as the fifth.

Agreed... [In reply to] Can't Post

For full character development and these are characters I would want to get to know, I believe that if it was ever done it should be done as a series. Especially with the huge success that "Game of Thrones" has seen as a series. It is my very humble opinion that "The Sillmarillion" is a masterpiece of fantasy fiction and a series is really the only way it could be done justice.

With that being said, I have found your episode summaries to be extremely well thought out. The only suggestion that I would make is to be certain that the character Finwe is fully developed. In order to understand the dynamics between Feanor and Fingolfin, the viewer must completely understand the events which led up to their rivalry. It is such a complicated relationship, it would take real talent to translate that to imagery. Now this has got me thinking, what actor would make a good Feanor?? Hmmmm....

Thanks [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks. Finwe would be the focus of the first two episodes and a large part of the rest until his death. Hence why he is main cast.
The relationship between Feanor and Fingolfin would be the main focus of the season.

There'd be plenty of actors that would make a good Feanor. My choice would be someone who fits that doesn't demand a ridiculous amount of money. The important thing is the writing and we don't need A-list 'stars' to make a good series.

One day our paths will lead us there, and the tower guards shall take up the call, The Lords of Gondor have returned.

Season 2 [In reply to] Can't Post
