A question for those familiar with Tolkien's letters Can't Post

I'm in need of a little help from those familiar with The Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien. Is there any additional information given on or any mention made of (a) Old Forest (esp. Old Man Willow), (b) the Barrow-wights in any of them? Thanks.

Old Man willow only coincidently:

Quote
He {Tom Bombadill} is master in a peculiar way... He hardly even judges, and as far as can be seen makes no effort to reform or remove even the Willow.
Letter 153, to Peter Hastings (draft)

Quote
I thought Tom Bombadill [in the 1955 Radio dramatization] dreadful - but worse still was the announcer's preliminary remarks that Goldberry was his daughter (!), and that Willowman was an ally of Mordor (!!). Cannot people imagine things hostile to men and hobbits who prey on them without being in league with the devil!

Letter 175

..no results when search on "wight."

Hope that helps a bit - dis you have a specific question or thought in mind?

On the Old Forest [In reply to] Can't Post

From Letter 339: "The Old Forest was hostile to two legged creatures because of the memory of many injuries."

No, just trying to gather as much information as possible as a preparation for writing an essay.
