Or at least PJ thought about it and asked WETA to do some concept ilustrations?

It is the Smaug of the movies, and it looks like a concept art like those appeared in the chronicles book, perhaps come spy has put it on the net

Hm [In reply to] Can't Post

It certainly cannot be a "confirmation" for anything.

I am quite sure they won't do it, as PB repeatedly has stated how fascinated she is by the idea to kill off the dragon quite early and show what this leads to.

But whatever they do or did do... such a picture does not indicate much.

All good stories deserve embellishment."

Praise is subjective. And so is criticism.

I would think this is fan art showing the Fall of Gondolin.

Faramir: I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.

I asked the artist and he told me it's just an unidentified stronghold [In reply to] Can't Post

and the dragon really is Smaug, which probably wasn't yet born during the fall of Gondolin.

Great picture anyway !

Nope. Don't think so. (Spoilers to be super safe) [In reply to] Can't Post

Smaug's death is necessary before the argument over division of the spoils and that falling by the wayside when the evil forces attack. Nothing to fight over yet if he's still around.
