Dain Ironfoot will be Can't Post

a red head.

I was watching the extras in the DVD and noticed in these images, that this make up artist was working on Dain's prosthetics, see Billy Connolly's pic on mirror and name in the head's mold.

(picture flipped for easier reading )

It seems they're going for a younger looking Dain, isn't it?

I know it's not much, but something is better than nothing.

Great spot! [In reply to] Can't Post

Looks indeed like Dain will have red hair - but what about the supposed Mohawk? Perhaps that was one of Billy's little jokes? Wink

Bravo for finding this!! [In reply to] Can't Post

It looks like Billy will be in heavier prosthetics than I expected. I assumed they would be going really light with all that (not sure why...).

First of all [In reply to] Can't Post

GREAT FIND

Second thing i have to add is that,my guess this will be his design in a flashback of a younger Dain.I think Billy will have his natural beard colour.Dont count on it though Wink

We are more connected than ever before, more able to spread our ideas and beliefs, our anger and fears. As we exercise the right to advocate our views, and as we animate our supporters, we must all assume responsibility for our words and actions before they enter a vast echo chamber and reach those both serious and delirious, connected and unhinged.

Why do they need to make him young??? [In reply to] Can't Post

I honestly dislike the idea of using prosthetics to actors wherever they can.

Can you not once, trust the natural skin-tone of atleast some of the actors PJ? Mad

Prosthetic under construction? [In reply to] Can't Post

It looks far from finished to me, so I wonder if it is an early design?

It's difficult to tell from the angle, but that looks like eye brow hair to me. Will Dain have platted brows like Nori? There doesn't seem to be any hair on the scalp or around the ears (mohawk?)

I hate Nori's hairtsyle the most. [In reply to] Can't Post

So I sincerely wish that Dain be as far from him as possible.

Fine by me. *now prays Dáin doesn't have a mohawk* [In reply to] Can't Post

I'd rather see a piggy helmet on his head, complete with boar fangs, than a supercool hairstyle.

Combining the Mohawk rumours and this image, we might get something like this [In reply to] Can't Post

or something along these lines...

Gotrek from Warhammer

The age would certainly be present - even though he'd lack the white hair!

Naturally, they'd have to try and make him as different and unique as possible, and not relate him in anyway to Warhammer characters ...

Thanks for the screencaps Oleander Wink

agree [In reply to] Can't Post

yeah far from finished,

They do NOT attach hair to the prostehics before they are on the actors. so that hair laying around could be anything.

BC can look fierce in real life IMO [In reply to] Can't Post

To me, BC has deep-set, sharp dark brown eyes (as opposed to the limpid ethereal eyes of Elijah Wood, say) that also are filled w. intelligence. Given a face like that I don't imagine they would have to do a lot - heavier forehead, bigger nose, the ears of course, and plenty of hair.

I wonder if as a leader he will have plenty of hair jewelry, or do more of the Thorin/Dwalin thing as a warrior and dump the beads and clips, and be more of wild thing. And maybe they dumped any mohawk ideas after using that style on Dwalin (which looked excellent on Graham McTavish).

It could still work. By the time of LOTR Dain could definitely have grey hair seeing as how 60 years have passed!
