you're not likely to get fresh, healthy food there, and certainly not organic. The more I read about what happens to a lot of our "food" and the repercussions for our health, the stricter I get about what I will eat.
We don't have most of these in my city

My chain restaurant preference tends to change as their menus do. We do have a Longhorn Steakhouse, although I don't think I've ever been there. We also have an Applebee's, Chili's, and On the Border, all of which I've been to regularly. Though we do have a ton of fantastic local options in town, so it really depends on what we're after.

we went to the Olive garden for the first time. It was buzy and we waited 15-20minutes (told it would be 25 minutes). The wife had Penne pasta with shrimp and I had a new chicken dish with spinach (thin bed of baby leaves). There was an iceberg based salad with sparse addings (I thin slice of tomato for two)The hot peppers were great though. It came in a bowl and a big tong. I ordered another whole bowl. Servings of the main meal were not large. But we enjoyed it being tasty and the atmosphere was pleasant.
My favorite restaurant isn't a franchise.

We like to go to Nicky's in Estes Park. When we walk in, they know which booth is our favorite and take us right to it :-) It was damaged in last fall's flooding, but Nicky was smart enough to have flood insurance, and took advantage of the opportunity to expand the bathrooms to make them accessible, which they weren't before.
It was a little, hole-in-the-wall, Italian restaurant in Misawa, Japan that was run by the Italian wife of a retired U.S. serviceman. It probably doesn't even exist any more.

I know what you mean! I lived in Okinawa for about two years and and some interesting little Italian style restaurant. I say style because their spin on Italian is quite different from traditional at times.

but logistics and no talking purse available limits my opportunity... but I really enjoy Lone Star Steak House. They make a mean Onion Flower and deep-fried green beans. Seriously! Green Beans! *slaver slurp*
our local Thai restaurant makes garlic green beans that are the best. thing. ever. Try as I might I cannot seem to recreate them at home. Fortunately they have a lunch-time deal where you can get three servings of three different things for $5 (I usually say, "please just give me 1-1/2 servings of yellow curry and 1-1/2 servings of garlic green beans!).
I don't know any of these. Maybe I've heard of Longhorn come to think of it, it's some sort of a steakhouse right? The other restraurants I've never seen here.
