Andy Serkis to direct The Jungle Book at Warner Brothers Can't Post

Anyone who has followed Andy's journey from a small time actor hired to do some voice work to a soon to be mainstream director knows how great the guy is. I've loved Andy ever since seeing how he carved out his own place in Middle Earth through sheer hard work, effort and enthusiasm and translated that effort into a worldclass/peerless visionary of performance capture.

Here's to Andy! I hope The Jungle Book is awesome!

Also - and I think I can speak for a lot of us here. I'm just so proud of the guy. Because of the EE behind the scenes I almost feel like I know him. I'm so thrilled he's doing so well.

Good for him! [In reply to] Can't Post

After being second-unit on The Hobbit he should be able to handle pretty much anything that comes his way.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Great news!! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm guessing that the film will be heavily mo-capped as far as the animals are concerned. With Andy at the helm, it could be spectacular! Is it too early to think about casting? I rather like the idea of Benedict Cumberbatch as Bagheera or Shere Khan. There is something a bit feline about him.Smile

Is there a Tolkien topic that you have wanted to look into more deeply and write about your thoughts on it? If so, we'd like to hear from you for the next TORn Amateur Symposium- coming in April. Happy writing!

I am sad that he still hasn't gotten the Oscar he wanted and so much deserves for playing Gollum.Wink
