Lobelia Sackville-Baggins vs Gothmog Lord of the Balrogs Can't Post

Lobelia gets to use her umbrella! Unsure

From World's End then he turned away,
and yearned again to find afar .
his home through shadows journeying,
and burning as an island star . . .

From out of the shadow a red sword leaped flaming. [In reply to] Can't Post

The umbrella glittered wet in answer.
There was a ringing clash and a spray of fine raindrops. The Balrog fell back and its sword flew up in soggy fragments. Lobelia swayed on her doorstep, stepped back a pace, and then again stood still.
"You cannot pass until you wipe your feet!" she said.

Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

Now let's move on to the great question of our time: [In reply to] Can't Post

Does Lobelia's umbrella have wings?

I'll just stand back and watch the fireworks now.

Why, yes. What could be MORE important? [In reply to] Can't Post

Lobelia's umbrella WAS a triple-use instrument.

1. It kept the Rain Giants off her head.
2. It was a great hidey-hole for silver spoons & various other goodies.
3. And not necessarily of primary import: It smacked Gothmog a heavy blow till he wiped off his dirty feet.

Wings? Well, wasn't it Mary Poppins that flew with an umbrella? Just a spoon-full of sugar . . .Heart
