dose anyone else wonder.... Can't Post

10 years ago lotr was sweeping the Oscars. The hobbit franchise, though nominated, has failed to win anything, though I feel they were made as well as Lotr....to an extent. I felt the acting was good, along with the effects, and soundtrack, but I'm puzzled why they haven't been as successful as Lotr. Maybe it's the complaints of the lack of originality or the plot....those are my thoughts, what are yours?

There were many strong entries in this year's Oscar nominations [In reply to] Can't Post

I was puzzled by how relatively few effects nominations DoS received--and how few wins it had even in the Technical Oscars. I do feel that DoS should have received noms for Best Original Score and Best Original Song.
TaBA may prove to be the strongest of the three movies and may do much better in next year's Academy Awards--much as RotK did. Time will tell.

Well, LOTR was groundbreaking [In reply to] Can't Post

with its VFX, story scope and audacity of the film studio, whereas The Hobbit is the same again 12 years later, in essence. I can understand why it hasn't captured the attention of the Academy, although I'd like TABA to win something to acknowledge the immense work that has gone into this second trilogy.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.
