Acquired a copy of the 1978 photonovel of 'The Hobbit'

This is the edition that included artwork from the 1977 animated film produced by Rankin/Bass for television. I won the book cheap, on a first bid in an e-bay auction. It arrived with the mail this morning. The book is the softcover edtion rather than the hard cover version and measures about 9 1/2 inches X 8 7/8 inches. Thror's Map and the Map of Wilderland are reproduced in the style of the animated film and the vast majority of the illustrations are taken either directly from film cells or from pre-production art and storyboards. Illustrators include: Lester Abrams, Robert Jones, Tsuguyuki Kubo, John S. Lynch, Gray Morrow, Minoru Nishida, Carol Ann Robson, Walter Simonson, and Charles Vess. The text is the unabridged (as far as I can tell) 1966 edition of The Hobbit. The book definitely has condition issues, both with the binding and with wear in general and some slight discoloration. However, there seems to be no missing pages. I'm not sure whether to describe the condition as poor or fair. I am leaning towards fair.
There are no images of the stone-giants. We do get illustrations of Beorn, both as a Man and as a bear (as well as a pic of the severed goblin-head and Warg-pelt serving warning to Beorn's enemies). An image of the Elvenking on his throne suffices for the Wood-elves' feast in the Forest. I still wonder if the character designers thought that the Wood-elves were more akin to Ents than to other Elves. We do have an illustration on page 171 of Bilbo finding the Arkenstone. Later, we see a picture of Bilbo meeting with Bard and the Elvenking in the encampment of the armies. A highly-stylized illustration of Bilbo and Gandalf on the return journey might be a pre-production image or it might be the last bit of new, original art in the book.
