Top MOMENTS in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Can't Post

I do not mean full scenes or sequences or general things, I mean short moments. Mine are:

- I am...DEATH.
- Bilbo's reaction to what the Ring is doing to him
- The moment when the title of "TDOS" appeared over the mountains with the music and Beorn's roar.
- "If we shall all die in fire, we shall all burn together
- Balin crying
- Thorin stepping on the key as it was about to fall
- Legolas bleeding
- Sauron reveal
- Bombur in a barrel
- Bilbo fighting spider with Ring on

and many more! :D

what are yours?

I loved the Laketown scene where Thorin is pleading with the master to let them continue to the mountain,.. [In reply to] Can't Post

the snow effect was beautful, and the acting impeccable.. also loved the music and scenery as they are entering the mountain... and Bilbo first walks into the great halls and sees the mountain of gold....they put so much effort into the backgrounds it's just too much to take in, and there are many more , I lost count of all the be-headings and Orcs impaled by arrows :-) ( always love the one arrow through two Orc heads!)

From a non-fan I saw the movie with: [In reply to] Can't Post

"How Bilbo dodged answering questions about the Arkenstone. Bilbo running on the gold and steps under the mountain. And his expression watching the trees move toward him before falling. The actor that plays him is really good."
We both agreed: Basically every Bilbo scene Smile

Mine: [In reply to] Can't Post

--"Thag you very buch"
--watching the butterflies and feeling the sun hit his face
--"Mine" and the facial expressions that follow
--"shush" to the gold
--The expression then hand gesture of Bilbo in Erebor after he turns to ask Balin a question only to find Balin just left. I giggled out loud in the theater; it was so cute!

--expression after Tauriel takes the athelas from him.
--"stay here" (or something like that) to Kili.

--The passion in his voice yelling at Thranduil
--"I have the only right"
--stopping Bilbo from leaving Erebor with his sword

--Using the mouse at Beorn's house to visually illustrate what Beorn was saying at the same time.
--Bilbo's waffles at Beorn's looked yummy
--only being able to understand the spiders when Bilbo has the ring on
--Bilbo holding the gold cup
--Dwarf heads pop out of barrels after Bofur asks, "what do we do now?"
--Mirkwood treetop view- I felt I was there

--Bard reciting the poem
--Bard's daughter: "will they bring us luck?" (or something like that)
--The Bilbo & Balin face-to-face looks after Thorin tells him the Arkenstone is why Bilbo is there.

1. I loved Peter Jackson's cameo
2. The hole prologue in The Prancing Pony
3. The title sequence

5. The confrontation between Thranduil and Thorin
6. How you actually see that Thranduil isn't just mean, but has his reasons for being how he is
7. The first glimpse of Laketown
8. You can see how Thorin is already going mad at times, especially when he is willing to sacrifice Bilbo for the sake of getting back the Arkenstone even though Smaug is raging
9. The confrontation between Bilbo and Smaug
10. Bard reciting the poem

"If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world."

Does Bilbo really say "Thag you very buch"? That's great, I must have missed that.

Near the end [In reply to] Can't Post

Smaug shaking off the gold in the sky is the most magical shot of these films so far. Seemed like for a split second the wonder of the book came to life.

I thought that, but do people eat just the comb? [In reply to] Can't Post

I didn't see anything else around Bilbo; what filled the hobbit's appetite? Surely he should still be eating...

Maybe it's a subtle visual reference [In reply to] Can't Post

to this line from the book: "Little bunny is getting nice and fat again on bread and honey." I'm sure there's some bread there somewhere. Smile
