Thorin in his regal clothing Can't Post

So this shot we've seen in the last two trailers.

I know people think it's his BoFA armour, taken from Smaug's horde, but obviously this can't happen in the second film. Furthermore, we've seen Thorin's clothing in Laketown and in the Erebor sequences, and it's much shabbier than this. Therefore, I'm wondering if it's part of a flashback to the glory days of Erebor, presumably in the prologue. I believe it was mentioned that relationships between father and son would be an important part of this film, so it makes sense we'd get to see Thrain and Thorin together, as their relationship hasn't been fleshed out at this point (I think some non-book readers were under the impression that Thror was infact Thorin's father). There's also the possibility that it's part of Girion's flashback, if they're going to show Dale's relations with Erebor.

don't think so [In reply to] Can't Post

I think it's just laketown gear with a few extra layers on top. The clothes look pretty scruffy in HD (look at the stains on the cloak), the gorget is similar to the stuff laketown guards are wearing, the cloak clasps have fish designs on them and it doesn't seem dwarvish at all.

True [In reply to] Can't Post

I didn't think it looked particularly Dwarvish to be honest with you. But whatever it is, Thorin can't wear these for very long. Also, the shot looks rather 'heroic'. So I'm struggling to come up with suitable scenarios for why and when he's wearing this.

Boat ride [In reply to] Can't Post

I always thought this shot is when they are going with the boat to the shore at Erebor, and he is standing very heroicly at the front of the boat (Like George Washington in this picture /http://wallpapers2u.com/...e-washington-in-boat )

" Why, O people of Noldor! Fëanor cried. Why should we longer serve the jealous Valar, who cannot keep us nor even their own realm secure from their enemy? And though he be now their foe, are not they and he of one kin? Vengence calls me hence, but even were it otherwise I would not dwell longer in the same land with the kin of my father's slayer and of the thief of treasure. Yet i am not the only valiant in this valiant people. And have ye not all lost your King? And what else have ye not lost, cooped here in a narrow land between the mountains and the sea? Here once was light, that the Valar begrudged to middle-earth, but now dark levels all. Shall we mourn here deedless forever, a shadow-folk, mist-haunting, dropping vain tears in the thankless sea? Or shall we return to our home? In cuiviènen sweet ran the waters under uncloaded stars, and wide lands lay about, where a free people might walk. There they lie still and await us who in out folly forsook them. Come away! Let the cowards keep this city!"

nah [In reply to] Can't Post

It's a mix of Dale and Laketown clothing, just look at that leaf shape on the armor bit, and the bucles on his cape are HUGE and the have fish deisgns on them..

On top of that we have seen Thorins bo5a 'armor' several times before. (stamps, and PJ blog day)

Thorin looks too old to be part of a prologue though... [In reply to] Can't Post
