Agreed on the first part. On the second... I wouldn't want to see any of these works turn into Game of Thrones

Agreed on the first part. On the second... I wouldn't want to see any of these works turn into Game of Thrones [In reply to] Can't Post

but Tolkien had a tendency, as was common of the day, to oversanitize, or at least, to leave a great many things unsaid. In Middle-Earth, then as it is now, lust existed, and babies, whether Elf, man, dwarf or orc, came from the same places and circumstances from which they always have.

In Reply To
...was the possibility of Kili "developing feelings" for Tauriel, at least in the first paragraph. If that were to happen, then I think it would cheapen Gimli/Galadriel, because as I said, that was supposed to have been a thing unheard of.

The second paragraph was more referring to the "lusting" thing. While I think I could accept it in a very tiny capacity (and only if it is presented in a joking manner), I honestly think the idea of it is dumb, unnecessary, and, frankly, inappropriate. I really try not to bang on about "the spirit of Tolkien" because it seems to mean different things to different people, but IMO, Kili lusting after Elves is NOT in "the spirit of Tolkien" at all.

I should have made a better point of differentiating the two scenarios. But I really don't like either idea, for different reasons of course.

"Hear me, hounds of Sauron, Gandalf is here! Fly if you value your foul skins, I will shrivel you from tail to snout if you step within this circle!"

"Do not be to eager to deal out death in judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends."
