Photos of Cumberbatch during mocap Can't Post

http://cumberbuddy.tumblr.com/...rbatch-playing-smaug

Judging by the 3rd picture down where his name is on screen, it looks like it's for a videoblog. Either that or a documentary.

Smaug's lips [In reply to] Can't Post

After seeing these, i guess it's safe to affirm that Smaug's lips will move when he's talking. Half of the captors (i don't know if it's the right word - i mean the little white points) are disposed around his mouth ! Smaug is going to be very expressive for a dragon

It would be interesting [In reply to] Can't Post

to know the source of these photos! In the comments of each photo he says they are screenshots from the behind the scenes on the hobbit EE. He also said it is now available in the iTunes store, this got me excited I chekced but I can't find it. I'm in the UK here, can anyone else confirm? Smile

I simply walked into Mordor.

Good catch with the sensors also being around Benedict's lips.

This is gonna get interesting :) [In reply to] Can't Post

Looks like Benedict Cumberbatch really put forth a lot of effort for this role!Smile I simply cannot wait to see Smaug talk!

My favorite speech from the entire LOTR series: Sam:“It’s like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was after so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come and when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those are the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand, I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances at turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going because they were holding on to something.” Frodo: “What are we holding on to, Sam?” Sam: “That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for!”

Strange. [In reply to] Can't Post

I though Benedict was going to mo-cap for the Necromencer, but he will also act as a dragon? Haha man of many skills I guess.

I can't imagine this being a doc for AUJ EE since we don't see Smaug much, definitely not talking. Hopefully this is for a Vlog coming out very soon? What happened to the Vlogs anyways?

The facial mocap could be for the Necromancer [In reply to] Can't Post

In the other pics it looks like Benedict was recording his lines for Smaug while in that crawling position! That would certainly push his voice in a certain direction...

He has been saying in many interviews for a long time [In reply to] Can't Post

That he both voices and mo-caps both Smaug and The Necromancer, not that press or production notes have helped people getting that information...

Plus in an interview also posted here he mentioned about his casting that the day he had to read for Smaug Peter Jackson made him read for other characters and told him he could be a couple more characters, The Necromancer being one, but leaves the question if in the end he was given another extra one we don't know a thing about

But i'm sure [In reply to] Can't Post

he also had a lot of fun ;) From many of his interviews being able to play Smaug is like a dream come true for him, he was saying he wanted to be Smaug even back in 2009 before he got his boom with Sherlock
