Getting to know you question request thread for November - Jerry Vanderstelt Can't Post

Hi All

This month we're talking to artist Jerry Vanderstelt, the artist behind these beautiful LOTR/Hobbit prints.

You can check out more of Jerry's work here.

So fire away with your questions.

Cheers

One by one they faded, and fell into shadow...

One book to rule them all
One book to find them
One book to bring them all
And in TORn bind them
In the land of TORnadoes...where the brilliant play

My questions: [In reply to] Can't Post

1. Could you give us a brief history of how you got to where you are today (i.e. what got you into drawing, Tolkien etc)?
->Kel, I'm sure you can word that question a lot better for me. Wink

2. Which is your favourite Tolkien character to draw, and why?

3. Is there any particular Tolkien drawing that has been especially difficult/challenging to draw?

4. And a fun one: if you were food, what type of food would you be?

I've always wanted one of his prints, so I'm really looking forward to this one. Smile

My question (thank you in advance Kel) [In reply to] Can't Post

What or who is your biggest inspiration?

- Good morning.
- What do you mean? Do you mean to wish me a good morning, or do you mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not? Or perhaps you mean to say that you feel good on this particular morning...or are you simply stating that this is a morning to be good on?

- Good evening.
- Yes, yes it is. Though I think it might rain later.

My question [In reply to] Can't Post

Considering the availability of photoshop and other image edditing software, do you think that there is less demand for the kind of work you produce than there was, say, ten years ago?

My old standby [In reply to] Can't Post

Only because I can think of nothing else interesting.
What kind of music do you listen to?

My question [In reply to] Can't Post

Daniel already beat me to the " what got you into drawing". So, moving on to another one.

Who would you like to draw something for (a special request by somebody special) and what would you like to make for them?

And, do you have Dutch relatives? With your last name, it does sound like there should be some Dutch ancestors in your family.

Thanks for this Kel!
